Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Ian Mason on March 9, 2013 at 2:35pm Yes, I've seen several documentaries with the Amazing Randi including one where he and a scientist went to France (?) to observe an experiment that claimed to prove that homeopathic water is different from other water. When observed by outsiders, the experiment failed. It's hard to trick a trickster :-)

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on March 9, 2013 at 2:03pm I raise my cup of tea to join your toast to progress, Ian. Despite the degradation of democracy, Climate Destabilization, and takeover by the super rich, overall I'm happier with the world today than when I was a child. My mom had a wringer washer and hung everything out to dry too. At least our washing machine had hot water, though I seem to remember her filling the tub from a hose.
Hellfire and Dalmations, hahaha. Thanks Idaho Spud!

Comment by Patricia on March 9, 2013 at 12:43pm I don't need explanations Ian, magicians bore the crap out of me so seldom watch unless my husband wants to. Even then, I'll usually find something else to do.
Thanks for the Beauty of Science Joan.....enjoyed it & makes complete sense to me.
Comment by Joan Denoo on March 9, 2013 at 12:42pm Ian, are you familiar with The Amazing Randi? He is a skeptic, challenger of paranormal science and pseudoscience. He is known as a debunker and he says "there is a lot of bunk".
Comment by Ian Mason on March 9, 2013 at 6:21am Great post, Joan. There are always more questions than answers - that's one of the things that make life exciting. If that wasn't the case we would stagnate and decay.
There's one exception for me. I can't watch magicians. I'm impressed by the trick but always want to know how it's done. If there's no explanation to be had, I don't want to see the trick.
