Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I've got behind, so this is a bit belated.

Sympathies, Felaine. I went through 3 years suffering and of a lot of money thanks to an incompetent dentist. Dentists and drunk-drivers are the only people who should suffer capital punishment.

Yes, 50 years old is far too young to go. That's tragic.

Great cats all. They've put a smile on my face.

Did you lose a cat?

This one's for you booklover.

Patricia, sorry to hear of your dental and emotional ordeals!

Felaine, I'm glad things are going better... and Eloise would undoubtedly make a better pope than 99% of the cardinals!

BTW, there is a one-sentence bill in the U.S. House that would simply repeal the s*q**st*r: HR 900, the Cancel the Sequester Act of 2013. Signon.org has a petition.

The major pain vanished around midnight last night, and I'M FINE! Thanks! I think I was a little goofy lasy night because I came up with the following (wishing Kay Thompson was still alive...and sane.)

ELOISE

IN

THE VATICAN

Eloise, Nanny, and Weenie are in Rome when Rat-Boy quits; they take the usual tour of the public parts of the Vatican, wander away from the group, and get lost. They end up sequestered (pardon that dirty word!) with the cardinals, etc. when the convocation starts.

Lots of snarky comments about the men's "costumes." And the inside power politicking. Maybe she opens a door and finds two priests in bed together...or an all-out Borgia-style orgy going on.

Eloise scribbles her name all over the place, including the ballots and is ”miraculously" elected pope...I dunno.

I just don't have the Thompson Touch.

I'm only ME,

FELAINE!

Spud, I had no pain when my wisdom teeth were pulled.  I was pretty much out of it too!  I guess it's worse for adults because the teeth are set in the bones for so long.  That's what they said when they pulled mine anyway.  The horrible ACHE is what went on for so long. Ugh~

How are you doing today Sk8ey?

Comment by Patricia on March 7, 2013 at 12:52pm

Thought that 'mosquito' was a Pomeranian, not a cat.

Thanks guys, I know nothing much can come of any relationship other than light coolness. As I said before, I thanked her for the apology but said nothing about forgiveness, as I just won't give her that. I'm willing to write letters & try to keep civil if for no other reason than that my daughter has her relationship with her grandmother. As for anything further, I can't/won't do it. Too much crap to resolve, & far too much water under the bridge to keep trying to deal with it. If light communication is in the cards, then so be it, but nothing more is acceptable.

OUCH, OH Felaine!  That sounds horrible!   And, Patricia, I don’t like the thought of you having all your teeth pulled either.  I’ve got a few sympathy pains for you guys.

Chris’ doctor sounds like he had the answer about injections not entering the swollen area.   I’m going to try to remember that.

I'm a chicken about pain and won't put-up with it anymore, but I’m usually lucky to have little pain due to surgery.  Melinda, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted, I had almost no pain afterwards and none during because I had a surgeon that laid me down and put me out completely.   I wonder if experiencing a lot of pain during a procedure somehow makes the recovery pain worse.

Patricia, I’m glad to hear you’re done with toxic people.

Interesting pie chart Steph.  I especially like the “helping the poor/sick/needy” slice approaching zero.

As for humor, I don’t like slapstick either Joan, and Carol B. had too much of it for my taste, so, although I thought the elephant sketch and a few others were funny, most of her humor did nothing for me.

I enjoyed Cosby for a long time, but got tired of him calling his children and teenagers “brain dead” along with other names, even though it appears to be true.

I don’t like violent “humor” either.  The exception was the 3 stooges when I was young.  For some reason, I liked them as a child (and I do think males like them a lot more than females).  As I’ve aged, I’ve outgrown them.  They’re mostly dumb now and the violence is disturbing.
