Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Comment by booklover on March 7, 2013 at 1:37pm Spud, I had no pain when my wisdom teeth were pulled. I was pretty much out of it too! I guess it's worse for adults because the teeth are set in the bones for so long. That's what they said when they pulled mine anyway. The horrible ACHE is what went on for so long. Ugh~
Comment by Patricia on March 7, 2013 at 1:04pm How are you doing today Sk8ey?

Thanks guys, I know nothing much can come of any relationship other than light coolness. As I said before, I thanked her for the apology but said nothing about forgiveness, as I just won't give her that. I'm willing to write letters & try to keep civil if for no other reason than that my daughter has her relationship with her grandmother. As for anything further, I can't/won't do it. Too much crap to resolve, & far too much water under the bridge to keep trying to deal with it. If light communication is in the cards, then so be it, but nothing more is acceptable.
Comment by Idaho Spud on March 7, 2013 at 11:17am OUCH, OH Felaine! That sounds horrible! And, Patricia, I don’t like the thought of you having all your teeth pulled either. I’ve got a few sympathy pains for you guys.
Chris’ doctor sounds like he had the answer about injections not entering the swollen area. I’m going to try to remember that.
I'm a chicken about pain and won't put-up with it anymore, but I’m usually lucky to have little pain due to surgery. Melinda, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted, I had almost no pain afterwards and none during because I had a surgeon that laid me down and put me out completely. I wonder if experiencing a lot of pain during a procedure somehow makes the recovery pain worse.
Patricia, I’m glad to hear you’re done with toxic people.
Interesting pie chart Steph. I especially like the “helping the poor/sick/needy” slice approaching zero.
As for humor, I don’t like slapstick either Joan, and Carol B. had too much of it for my taste, so, although I thought the elephant sketch and a few others were funny, most of her humor did nothing for me.
I enjoyed Cosby for a long time, but got tired of him calling his children and teenagers “brain dead” along with other names, even though it appears to be true.
I don’t like violent “humor” either. The exception was the 3 stooges when I was young. For some reason, I liked them as a child (and I do think males like them a lot more than females). As I’ve aged, I’ve outgrown them. They’re mostly dumb now and the violence is disturbing.

Comment by booklover on March 7, 2013 at 7:27am Grinning Cat and Steph, love your LOL cats!
Joan, I know he had a temper, and he did the same job as my husband so he probably was stressed. He had a wife, 2 ex-wives, 5 grown kids (The_youngest one wouldn't talk to him because she believed all the stuff her mother, whom I know, said bad about him), and a grandson. The daughter who had his grandson had been in drug-rehab. He and his wife, although they both had good jobs and great benefits both delivered newspapers before work each morning!!!!!!! We used to joke about it. I think they were either big spenders, or big savers! I think it was spending according to when I used to know him. We will be on vacation when they have the funeral. My husband says he knows what his friend would have said. Something along the lines of rather being on vacation than at someones funeral, so have fun and think about him. He was an Atheist. It is just such a shock when someone about your own age dies suddenly. It takes a while to register. Yes, I will live each day even better now. Less time online, etc. and more paying attention to my family and animals. I will make this vacation a memorable one by staying offline and really paying attention to each and every family member, especially my kids.~ Melinda
Comment by booklover on March 7, 2013 at 7:15am Thanks Lillie, you're so sweet. :)
Steph, love your graph. Funny how the orange is missing, hunh?
Felaine, I hope you are out of pain today. If not, you can start trying the heat on it.
Comment by Ian Mason on March 7, 2013 at 3:41am A good family is a great thing. A bad family can be a nightmare.
My Dad was married twice so I've got 2 "Mums", both very jealous and posessive, so there's been some conflicts. Peace seems now to have settled over the situation but that's probably because they both know that the end is in sight, which is a sobering thought for them.
Patricia, please remember that your own well-being comes first. Do whatever moderates your mood and blood-pressure and to Hell with anything/anyone else.
Comment by Joan Denoo on March 7, 2013 at 1:25am Patricia, I am so very sorry that there isn't a warm relationship; life is too precious to have to put up with people who judge or don't accept one. So! Make each day extra special for yourself! Make your happiness and joy and enthusiasm depend on you, you are too precious to let another stand in the way of your standing proud, strong, happy, and full of vinegar.
