Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Ian Mason on July 20, 2012 at 2:42pm Yes, sk8eycat. A great idea for a secular holiday to celebrate what humanity can do.
Comment by Tony Carroll on July 20, 2012 at 2:49pm It does. Just googled it, and today is 'National Moon Day'. Also 'National Lollipop Day'. Sweet!!! (Yes, bad joke intended).
Also 'International Chess Day, and Ugly Truck Day'.
This is what the moon landing has to compete against. I think it can take the trucks and chess, but not so sure about lollipops. :)
Comment by Tammy S on July 20, 2012 at 2:54pm LOL Idaho Spud, I never even saw that Tammy Faye Baker conversation, gotta pay notice to she who puts the make-up on with a spatula! Bow before the bronzer!
Comment by Idaho Spud on July 20, 2012 at 3:10pm National Moon Day. Yay. Happy NMD to you all.
Comment by Jonathan Simeone on July 20, 2012 at 3:32pm I'm having a good day except for the fact that I hurt my neck lifting weights. I'm going to pay for my bad form all weekend.
Comment by Jonathan Simeone on July 20, 2012 at 3:50pm Thanks for your kind words Steph.
I also had a good day: some nice contacts and I did a lot of chores, glad to be rid of those. Listened to Schubert songs this evening and now off to bed. It's said that a reader never goes to bed alone - I always take one or more books, and of course there's my husband and my two cats. Good company! Have a nice night!
Comment by sk8eycat on July 20, 2012 at 4:09pm It may be "National Moon Day," but that's not a legal holiday. And I'm disgusted that when the Apollo program ended (prematurely), everybody seemed to say, "Well, okay, we beat the Soviets, now lets forget about the moon, and go back to blowing money away on weapons and stuff."
Skylab and the Shuttle were built with "off the shelf" technology... nothing really new has been developed in 43 years. Instead of playing with X-Box and FlakeBook, we could have been learning how to live on other worlds, and also how to build a comfortable transportation vehicle for the next step.
Mars!

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

What do you think of this,
Nathan Young,
No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it. The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs. I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance. The letter was a mockery of atheism. Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
