Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Iggy Pope would at least be more entertaining :-)

Well done Chris. Motivation with a reward is a good way to get duty done.

Oh booklover the Facebook cat and the liquid cat are just so good. Love them. So many great pics for my collection. I love that weekend cat Ruth and Napoleon Iggy pope is funny. Maybe the new pope will look something like that. hehe

Yes, it is best just to change the subject when religion is brought up - if you want to remain friends. I can see the conversation getting heated when discussing religion with a theist.

Chris, doesn't it feel so good to get something accomplished that you weren't looking forward to doing? Now you get to do something that sounds great!

Ruth, I thought that sign about lowering abortion rates put it aptly! I hope you have a good weekend too!

It was fun out with my friend last night, but she did say a few religious things.  I just changed the subject.  I can't take much of that!  There was a terrible accident a few blocks from my house about a week ago.  3 teens that were breaking into cars in the catholic church parking-lot were running from police.  They crashed head-first into a neo-natal nurses SUV and her car wrapped around a light-pole.  She died.  They lived.  My friend said she told her daughter to say a prayer.  So I said why would a loving 'god' let her die, and them live.  Of course she said she didn't know, but  'god' would forgive them if they were really sorry. AAaaarrrrggggghhhhh!

Yes, time flies and for me it's a good time now! I worked through a nasty packet of administration and it even looks quite acceptable! I haven't got a good way with numbers and get a horrible headache on top but I finished it! Yeahh! And now I can go and plant the first seedlings in my roof vegetable garden! I was looking forward to that!

Yeah, march 2013 already. Time whizzes by.

Grumpycat really is a viral meme. He's getting outside of the grumpy ghetto I see.

Thanks for the “Things that lower abortion rates” sign, booklover. That’s so on target.

Proof reading being outsourced to Asia now?

Good hypothesis, Ian. That’s plausible and would explain so much.

Happy weekend, all.

In 1969 we lived at Ft. Hood, TX; a news report said a farmer was plowing his field, dropped a tool and he didn't see where it landed but heard a "thunk". He looked into what looked like a hole and began the discovery of a sink hole. I piled the kids, 3 5-year olds, and headed to the farm. He opened up an entry way and offered people looks inside. We arrived at his farm and there were no other tourists, but he took us into the cavern and into a crystal room. I looked for it on Google and find dozens of sink hole/caverns in that area between Fr. Hood and San Marcos. Sadly, my children don't remember that adventure. There were walls of crystals, some the size of pencils and some 4-6" thick and 2-3 feet long. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the farm, but it was near San Marcos off I-35.
Here is a great site for karst topography of that area:

Not believing in an afterlife does not mean i am a "sad' person.

I work in healthcare in a long term care facility and I deal with death on a regular basis. About a year ago the opportunity arose for me to take a palliative care course through my work.  I enjoyed it for the most part. It dealt with topics such as end of life care, pain relief and addressing the spiritual needs of different individuals based on their religious beliefs. There was one instance however that was decidedly unpleasant, and unfortunately really overshadowed the rest of my time in the…See More
