Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Then you're lucky, Sk8eycat, Dido prefers to lie purring loudly on my keyboard, while grabbing at my sweater and I'm not allowed to stop scratching his ears...

Damn.  It's difficult trying to type with a cat on my lap.  The previous post is full of typos.  Sorry.

Pumpkin will only sit with me when I'm at the keyboard...

Got this made up as a poster that was captioned, "GRAMMAR. It's important." IMO it should have been, "PUNCTUATION. It's important." But, I' one of those nerds like the woman who wrote, Eats, Shoots & Leaves, a bestseller that's ONLY about correct punctuation.  It's also hilarious.  anyway...

Silver bullets were supposed to be for killing werewolves.  I think.  The wooden stake for a vampire has a whiff of Druidism.  (I used to have a friend who would tell door-to-door undergodders that she was a Druid. Stopped most of them cold.)

No silver bullets, or was that for another beastie?

Vampire Hunting Kit - I saw that in a movie about Vampires. They really did used to believe in that stuff.

Thanks sk8eycat.

Hi booklover - so lots of snow there?

Steph, love the cat gif and the Hitchens quote! Glad you have sun! It's snowy and blowy here. We should all get those tee-shirts! :)

A friend just forwarded this to me:

Vampire Hunting Kit.

I did a Google Image Search (because the one Jo sent me was lifted from InYourFaceBook), and there are pages and pages of the things!

Travelers in the 19th century would purchase ‘vampire hunting kits’ in preparation for their travels to Eastern Europe. The kits would contain a wooden stake, Bible, crucifix, pistol with lead bullets, gunpowder, garlic and glass vials that held various concoctions to ward off vampires. Interestingly, these kits predated Bram Stoker’s Dracula and other written accounts of vampires, pointing to the strong oral history component of the undead bloodsucker.

Steph, I love "...that's enough."  My Pumpkin does the exact opposite; if I stop petting him, he tries to snatch my hand, with claws extended, as if to say, "That's NOT enough!"

Gotta send that gif to all my other cat-fan friends.  (I don't know why I can't get any of them to join this group...or even stop by for a visit. 85% of them are atheists.)

To Hitch, wherever you aren't, today people DO have an idea or two about what is going on (cause and effect), and most of them prefer to be in deep denial.
