Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Science, Atheism & the Joyful Life -- by Sean Faircloth, Richard Dawkins Foundation

Some speeches by atheists are factual and practical, dealing with the nuts and bolts of reality.  Some are diatribes against the superstitions we seek to overcome, pointing out the man behind the curtain and the fallacies and snake oil he tries to…Continue

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller Apr 8. 0 Replies

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

Love the Garfield cartoon Ian.

How's everyone today?

It's nice and sunny here. Yesterday we had wind gusts up to 30mph and higher. Lots of roofs need repairs now.

Sorry, but I haven't been paying attention the last couple of days. I've been absorbed in Hilary Mantel's "Bring up the Bodies", the follow-up to "Wolf Hall". Thomas Cromwell continues his ascent to the heights of power, this time by organising the downfall of Anne Boleyn and her family. In the first book it was possible to have some sympathy for him in his journey from son of a drunken, violent blacksmith to secretary to Cardinal Wolsey and subsequently a favourite of Henry VIII. In the new novel he's really turned into a nasty shit, ready to destroy anyone who crosses him and to take revenge on those responsible for Wolsey's fall from favour.

Will have to wait a year or two for the final volume of the three :(

Glad you guys liked the quote!  There are some good things to be had on Facebook. :) Carl, I remember my Mom used to play her record album from HAIR when I was a kid.  I loved to sing along. Love the NASA video Chris. That's cool you influenced your friends to not belief the supernatural crap sk8eycat! :) Just went out for lunch with a friend who is 'mostly' Atheist.  I think she hangs on to something, but really knows that this is it.  She's really cool to hang-out with though.  The snowstorm has hit us now.  Safe inside drinking my decaf now!~Melinda
