Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on February 2, 2013 at 12:58pm Hi Peeps! Thanks Joan and Carl, yes we are having fun with our daughter home, but it's too short of a time already! Friday late-afternoon through Sunday afternoon! My Mom took us out for breakfast today. We are just hanging out. I like your term chin-wag Joan! Yes Carl, we laugh a LOT. Well, WE think we're funny! ha ha :)
Our Labradork Molly just came inside. She is laying across my lap for warmth. All 73 lbs. of her! I have my feet up on the ottoman. Soon my legs will be asleep!
Comment by The Flying Atheist on February 2, 2013 at 12:49pm Nice to see Richard Dawkins getting some support. I have much respect for him. Hello, Melinda. Yes, we got snow here in Chicagoland last night. Not too much. Still sooooo cold, though. Enjoy your visit with your daughter. I have a feeling that the two of you do much giggling when you're together.

Comment by Joan Denoo on February 2, 2013 at 12:03pm Melinda, Great billboard; I have not seen it before and I like the wording. Glad your daughter is home; do you have anything special planned or just a good old fashioned chin-wag? My cousin from New Zealand calls me for "chin wags"!
Comment by Idaho Spud on February 2, 2013 at 11:10am Thanks Joan. First time I've heard the No Z in Boise song. Cute.
I feel the same way as Melinda. There's too many good things posted here to comment on them all, but I save most of the pictures.

Comment by booklover on February 2, 2013 at 8:11am Good Morning Everyone! So many good things are being posted, it's hard to comment on them all.
Our daughter is home for the weekend, so I am happy! We got snow last night, did you get snow in Chicago Carl?
Have a good weekend friends!
Comment by Ian Mason on February 2, 2013 at 12:30am Thanks, Patricia. That's a great article and I've shared it on FB. Never thought that would happen with something from the Telegraph! Had a good chuckle over the description of Daniel Dennett:
" a man who looks like the love-child of Father Christmas and Charles Darwin"
