Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Joan Denoo on January 29, 2013 at 5:15pm Melinda, I know what you describe about being in the company of like-minded or accepting people. It is freeing to freely chatter without having someone jump down my throat. I do try, really hard, to give as good as I get with a little pepper thrown in for emphasis. It doesn't stop people from being caustic about non-believers, but they are just more polite during their next encounter.
Hope you have a great evening ...
And thanks for the great photos of cats and T.P. Priceless.

Comment by sk8eycat on January 29, 2013 at 1:50pm What IS it with cats and TP? LOL! I love ALL of them.
We had one 30+ years ago who "decorated" the entire house with just one roll when we were all at a day-long family gathering. It llooked like he took hold of one end and very carefully dragged it in and out of each room. Spectacular!

Comment by booklover on January 29, 2013 at 1:36pm Great sign Grinning Cat! :) Cute cozy cat Steph. Going to an Atheist friends house for dinner tonight with some other women. Knowing her, they will all be liberal, and at least agnositc if not Atheist, so I can relax and be myself! :)~ Melinda
Comment by Chris Dodds on January 29, 2013 at 11:44am I saw the picture of the sign that Tony Carroll posted here and I realize that these messages are simple examples of xtian arrogance. But sometimes churches don't need signs like that to mark their arroganceor create feelings of unease. Case in point, there's a church just down the road from where I live that doesn't have the kind of sign where you can just put letters on to create message, like the sign in Tony's photo. The only sign they have on their lawn just tells us the name of the church. Until early last years, that church was called the Rock Creek Church. It's now called the Cross Fire Church. They don't need any other sign than the one they've got to make me feel nervous. Luckily I don't know anyone who attends their services.
