Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Melinda I just saw that FedEx cat and laughed - really funny.

Steph, I love "The Cat & The Sheeple."  It can be interpreted several ways, starting with denial when confronted with facts.  Heh!

Comment by Joan Denoo on January 29, 2013 at 12:07am

Melinda, your, "Its your fault ...!" photo provides perfect wording for that scene. I'm reposting, thanks.

Patricia, great cartoons! Right on target!

Ruth, your story and photo fit each other perfectly. I can not only imagine the sight of that litter box, but remember a whiff of it too, in our home.

Tony Carroll, Thanks; that church sign illustrates the problem, some religious people can think and choose not to. Yes, thinking requires work, mathematics needs concentration, science requires an open mind to take in all diversity and infinite time, life depend upon thought plus action. Dogma does not stand up to any of these. Litany provides no answers. Yes, religion may provide comfort, but does not provide answers worthy of attention. I find no truth in any one of the following sentences:
The Nicene Creed
Traditional Version (From the Book of Common Prayer)
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty
Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible:
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds;
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God;
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father,
by Whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man:
And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried:
And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures:
And ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father:
And he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the quick and the dead:
Whose Kingdom will have no end:
And I believe in the Holy Ghost the Lord, and Giver of Life,
Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified,
Who spake by the Prophets.
And I believe in One Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church,
I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins.
And I look for the Resurrection of the Dead:
And the Life of the world to come. Amen.

sk8eycat, your comments offer pearls of great price! I'll keep you informed.

Joan, pease let us all know when/if you get a reply.  I keep looking at that sign, and whether the photo is real or fake, it's typical xian arrogance.

"Jesus loves me (but not you)."

Hah!  But I love me; I don't need an imaginary friend to make me feel worthwhile.

Comment by Joan Denoo on January 28, 2013 at 8:48pm

Grinning Cat, you are a good sleuth; I've gone north and south and east and west around that corner and I can't get a good view of the sign. If the sign is a fake, I owe that church an apology for accusing them of something they did not do; however, I went to the church site and challenge their basic premise.
I sent them an email and look forward to their response.

Comment by sk8eycat on January 28, 2013 at 8:12pm

Dear Grinning Cat, the sign's frame looks genuine, but the removable lettering and spacing look somewhat different from the sign in the Google Maps photo.  Of course, Google Maps and Google Earth only update images a couple of times a year. If that often.

I just checked my own address on Garble Earth, and it still shows the car I sold last summer sitting in the driveway....
