Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Joan Denoo on January 28, 2013 at 9:17pm sk8eycat, your comments offer pearls of great price! I'll keep you informed.
Comment by sk8eycat on January 28, 2013 at 9:04pm Joan, pease let us all know when/if you get a reply. I keep looking at that sign, and whether the photo is real or fake, it's typical xian arrogance.
"Jesus loves me (but not you)."
Hah! But I love me; I don't need an imaginary friend to make me feel worthwhile.
Comment by Joan Denoo on January 28, 2013 at 8:48pm Grinning Cat, you are a good sleuth; I've gone north and south and east and west around that corner and I can't get a good view of the sign. If the sign is a fake, I owe that church an apology for accusing them of something they did not do; however, I went to the church site and challenge their basic premise.
I sent them an email and look forward to their response.
Comment by sk8eycat on January 28, 2013 at 8:12pm Dear Grinning Cat, the sign's frame looks genuine, but the removable lettering and spacing look somewhat different from the sign in the Google Maps photo. Of course, Google Maps and Google Earth only update images a couple of times a year. If that often.
I just checked my own address on Garble Earth, and it still shows the car I sold last summer sitting in the driveway....
That "logical/theological" church sign looks real to me -- more detailed than the usual church sign generator output. In any case, that particular Baptist church is real and shows up on Google Street View. They also have a website.

Comment by Loren Miller on January 28, 2013 at 1:48pm Logical thinking may encourage or discourage you, depending on your own personal bent and capacity for understanding data you're presented with. Theological thinking is MAGICAL THINKING, which can do anything it wants and doesn't answer to fact or reality ... so sure it can be encouraging, as certainly as it can be utterly and absolutely DELUSIONAL.
Comment by Joan Denoo on January 28, 2013 at 1:01pm Tony Carroll, that sign says it all; even if religious people can think, many choose not to. Yes, reasoning requires effort, math takes work, science overwhelms because of the diversity; that is exactly why religion may be necessary to make people feel good, but life involves far more than feelings.

Hello fellow atheists! I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims. I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.
I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists". I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…
