Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Patricia on January 18, 2013 at 1:28pm Just proves the churches can't/won't share the wealth with each other!
There are thousands of small churches across the US that could not survive if they were taxed. I don't really wish to see them shuttered because of something outside of their control. However, practicing politics is completely inside of their control, and I am all for removing the tax exemption from any church who is stupid enough to use their captive audience to influence political issues and elections. In my vision of a perfect world, all churches would be shuttered not because they had no choice, but because their members started thinking critically and left.
Comment by Patricia on January 18, 2013 at 1:12pm As a Canadian I'm on the outside looking in, but as neighbors we're very close to you guys & so many things are showing us the US isn't that bloody wonderful.....nor blessed. We get all your tv networks so we see a lot of your news, & I can't say we like much of what we see. I know we have a lot of our own issues, but your's have gone way beyond the toleration point, & unfortunately we tend to follow. I just have to hope our leaders can stand up to your's as strongly as possible.
Comment by booklover on January 18, 2013 at 11:42am I'd LOVE to see that also Felaine, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Comment by sk8eycat on January 18, 2013 at 11:36am James and Steph, and anybody, is there any country in the world today that has the courage to tax everyonee, and every business, equally.... including churches?
I keep hoping I'll live to see the day when the US (and each state)will wake up and calculate the income that could be amassed by taxing church property at the same rate that houses are taxed, but I doubt it's gonna happen. Ever.

Comment by booklover on January 18, 2013 at 9:14am Yes! The US needs to learn from other countries instead of thinking we are the greatest country and know everything. Obviously we don't!!!!
Comment by Idaho Spud on January 18, 2013 at 9:08am Patricia, I love your examples of what the US could learn from other countries.
