Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

And...his only purpose was to be a human sacrifice to appease his father/self. I have long thought that the figure in the manger should be a minature realistic, bloody crucufix. Maybe that would make some people wonder about what they are really celebrating. (The only other realistic figure in the manger should be a model of the sun. Almost all of xian mythology was taken from various sun-god religions...12 disciples=12 signs of the Zodiac, etc.)

PS: If anyone wants to see where our legal system and many xian rites and beliefs originated, I highly recommend Colleen McCullough's "Masters of Rome" series of novels. They are fiction as far as the dialog and feelings of the characters are concerned, but she researched the history of the Roman Republic for 13 years (!!!) beforeshe began to write. They are also very thick books, but once you begin reading, you can't put them down. (The books that come after the assassination of Julius Caesar didn't interest me as much as the first 5...or 6. I've forgotten. Heh!) I re-read them about once a year because I always come across something I missed in earlier readings.

PPS: I hated The Thorn Birds!

Who helped kill the Republic? The hyper-conservatives...people who insisted that things should be done the way they always had been, even though Rome was no longer a small city-state. I grind my teeth when I read certain parts of the books because I see the parallels to our time and predicaments.
