Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by sk8eycat on January 8, 2013 at 9:45am Something weird: During the almost 2 weeks I was cat-sitting, I saw a lot of TV commercials for Angie's List, so I thought I'd check it out (you have to pay to join). I looked at the long list of cities and towns in California that they have reviews of businesses for, and Burbank wasn't even there. Bizarre! They have listings for some places up in Gold Rush country that are practically ghost towns, but not a city with a population of about 100,000, several major studios (and a lot of minor ones), medical centers, every business imaginable (except bordellos...maybe)...and....and...and. I don't GET it.
But I "saved" about $35 by looking before joining.

Comment by booklover on January 8, 2013 at 1:07am Sk8eycat, my 'father' abandoned my sister and I too when I was 4 and she was 1. Also to alcohol, only he physically left. We were raised by my Mom, who was/is awesome, and for a while, a step-dad who I actually had no feelings for, and when they divorced, I was relieved, and never saw him again. We were VERY close to my paternal-grandparents. Even my Mom was. My 'dad' died of alcoholism, and with some woman who drank with him. His second wife died from alcoholism before he did. He never was responsible for himself. Always an excuse. He thought he could have a relationship with us when we were adults. Really? Didn't know him, didn't care. It might sound cold, but that's how we felt. He never made a big effort anyway.
I got married really young 20, and the day after tomorrow we are celebrating 25 years of marriage. I don't know if he was 'the one', if but he turned out to be a good one! lol. We have a very nice life and I wouldn't trade the kids I've got for any others! ;)
Glad everyone liked the dog picture!
I have insomnia tonight!~ Melinda
