Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by sk8eycat on September 3, 2012 at 10:39pm Patricia: That's an amazing train layout! I watched it and watched it, and turned green with envy. I've wanted a model train since I was about 8 years old...a GOOD model, not a "toy" Lionel train. Never got one, but 2 weeks after I graduated from high school I started my 3-year career with an ice show. We almost always travelled by train, and I loved it!
My dream trip is to go from Los Angeles to Seattle on the Coast Starlight, get to Vancouver, BC by bus or ferry, and then take a train to Winnipeg, switch to another train and go on to Churchill. I wanna see polar bears and the Aurora, and I don't really care whether I come home or not. (Maybe go back to Winnipeg, and then as far east as I can go. I'd like to see the Bay of Fundy...)
Tee-hee!

That was a cool train video - very creative idea to buy a camera for the train.

Comment by Patricia on September 3, 2012 at 11:00pm Patricia your daughter is so lovely.
How cool to make the trees from stalks - very nice!
What a lot of patience you must have to do the train and the landscape, but it looks very good!
Today I start teaching my class of senior citizens again, so I'm off. Have a good day!

Comment by Idaho Spud on September 4, 2012 at 7:17am Chris B, what do you teach the seniors?
Tony, great picture.
Beginners' English. Many elderly people didn't get a complete education when young and they want to learn parts they missed - some have got English speaking grandchildren. But there are also younger foreign people in my classes: Cabo Verde, Poland, Colombia, Hungary. Some don't speak Dutch but they want to learn English, and I try to think of ways to teach them. Most of the time we get some progress, and sometimes I just don't know. A few years back there were two Japanese girls in class: they were so horribly polite that they said yes to whatever I asked them. I never knew if my work was any use to them. Most of the time it's a happy riot in my classes - I'm convinced that you can learn best when you're relaxed and have fun.

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

What do you think of this,
Nathan Young,
No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it. The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs. I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance. The letter was a mockery of atheism. Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
