Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Bedtime Bible Stories (Betty Bowers)

Uh, oh!  America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, is at it again, THIS time with bedtime stories!  Somehow with her retelling of some of the classics, I'm dubious that her versions would go over with the Brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson,…Continue

dr. kellie: Sounds like you're having the cold, dry, gusty wind we had here (SoCal) on Tuesday.

My 2 cats acted like it really was the end of the world even though it was warm enough in here.  I guess it was the sound of the wind whistling through the trees, and dead leaves skittering across the yard and against the house.  Poor kittehs couldn't find any place they thought was safe (both of them spent most of their lives in big catteries); they don't know what things like cardboard cartons, pillows, and deep closets are for.  They don't even know that beds are for hiding under.

BUT the wind stopped suddenly around 10PM, and didn't start up again.  It's still cold, but calm.

Hi Carl!  Yep the storm has started!  I'm exactly in the middle at the very top of Illinois about 20 minutes from the Wisconsin border.  My sister in Green Bay is REALLY getting snow. It just started snowing and blowing here.  It rained all night.  Now there will be ice under the snow.  Not good for driving!!!

Fine here Steph, how are YOU?!!!  I hope getting some well-deserved rest. :)

Those gentlemen ARE charming!  :)

Talk to you all tomorrow if the world doesn't end... ;) Hugs, Melinda

It's always nice to see happy people, no matter what their gender, inclination, ethnic background. A smile is the shortest distance between people.

Denmark is chilly and damp at the moment with snow or sleet/freezing rain on the way and I'm working this weekend. Bugger! I would have enjoyed a couple of days at home in the warm with cocao and a good book. Oh well, there'll be another chance for that before the winter's over.

Joan, those two men are charming!  I'm so happy for them.

By the way, I hope I haven't insulted the numerous fine people here who live in Texas in places other than Austin and San Antonio!

Here in Texas there is a cold wind blowing.  I was in the yard yesterday to cut down a dead tree and I was sweating up a storm, and bitching to myself about why it was so damn hot in December.  All that changed overnight.

Hi, Steph.  Thanks for asking about us.  You're so nice!  Hope all is well with you in Austin (the one place in Texas I enjoy going to......oh, and the river walk in San Antonio.)  We're supposed to be hit with a snow storm later tonight here in Northern Illinois.  First snow of the season.  We've actually set a new record for number of days without snow.  The effects of global warming?  Whatever the case, this situation is not 'normal.'  It will be interesting to see how intense this storm will be.....the media usually has a way of over-sensationalizing these events, especially the first big snow of the season.  The worst part is supposed to be the high winds.....30 to 40 miles per hour with wind gusts 50 to 60 MPH.  Chicago is only supposed to get 1 to 3 inches, but Northwest Illinois, where Booklover lives (Hi, Melinda!), may get considerably more.

While writing my last post, it dawned on my that I should put "Atheist Nexus" after my subject in the box.  I just did, and it appears to work.

Steph, you're in Texas, right?  That probably means your posting during your lunch-hour.  I've got a question for you (or anyone that knows).  How can we search Atheist Nexus?  Several times I've tried that box on the right that's labeled "Search Atheist Nexus:" but I get results from everywhere except Atheist Nexus.

I often want to post something on Nexus, but with my bad memory, I can't remember if I've already posted it here or somewhere else.
