Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

This photo essay shows the remarkable benefits of replacing a secular government with a religious one. The fate of Egypt is quite an endorsement for the superior morality of religious rule.I was a bit surprised by the extent to which the temporary…Continue

Question: I teach English to elderly people - nice to do, yes - but it's not as if I know so very much about English. One of the books I use says that ´boyfriend´ and ´girlfriend´ are strictly used for lovers, not for friends. So when I hear Booklover say girlfriend to Steph, I don't want to pry but I do want to know about your use of the language. Tell me more!
Oh hey Melinda - I noticed you asked about me. I've been busy getting the final grades entered and studying for finals. It's always so busy about this time. Thanks for asking about me. I appreciate it.
Comment by sk8eycat on December 9, 2012 at 6:07pm Oh, rats! I messed up that last post (I want my hand back!), but you can still see the poster by clicking the link. It's one of the best things I've seen in AGES! Are there any awards for political humor?

Joan, Isaac Asimov said, or wrote, that the best argument in favor of atheism is the bible. He's right. At one time, my life was a mess (or I thought it was), so I decided to read the whole book from Genesis through Revelation to see if I could learn what I was doing wrong and how I could "fix" myself. (I had been carefully taught... that the answers to everything were in there) By the time I finished I knew it was bullsh*t, but I read it a second time just to make sure. It's BS, all right.
Annnnnnd, you do have to wonder why babies are born without any religion, and have to be taught. If any of that stuff were real, you'd think belief would be instinctive...

Comment by Joan Denoo on December 9, 2012 at 4:45pm Sk oh, I can never remember how to spell your lovely name. sk8eycat, I agree with you and Gore Vidal, "Silly!" And easy to set aside as some attempt to get "back" to "simpler" days when all the answers to serious questions came easily and cheaply from the pulpit. I can't understand how answers come from scripture, unless the answer is to go out and slaughter the entire population.
Real life is hard, complicated, and takes brains and guts to navigate the rapids. The good news is, we have both.
Comment by booklover on December 9, 2012 at 7:45am Hey I wrote a long post on here last night on my iPhone and it's not here! lol.
I guess Murphy's Law is real Patricia? lol, you've got to laugh, or you'll cry! When it's ALL done, you can relax and enjoy, and then you can laugh about all the mishaps. Right now, they're extremely frustrating, I'm sure!
Chris, I do have my own put-together cookbook. I just need to find more (and frugal!) recipes that we ALL like!
Carl, aren't you glad we have all found each other here and there is such great fellowship?!
Where's Steph? Miss you girlfriend!
Everyone have a relaxing Sunday not going to church! ;) ~ Melinda
