Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on December 7, 2012 at 7:08am Good Morning Everyone! I am sitting in front of our Winter Solstice Tree :) with a cup of coffee. :)
Joan, I don't mind if you post anything I say, etc. on FB. I have an FB page too, but just with my daughter, sister, a very few relatives and even fewer friends. The ones I have left on there know I'm a Liberal and an Atheist, so whoever doesn't like it there is free to unfriend me. I lost a friend a month or so ago from me posting Atheist things, but, good riddance then! Sounds cold, but I can't care anymore.
Have a happy Friday all and a great weekend!~ Melinda
Steph, love the Grouch Potato!

Comment by Joan Denoo on December 7, 2012 at 12:42am Gee, I haven't had the problems you describe on Facebook. If anything comes through I don't want to waste time on, I just Block it and it doesn't return. I certainly would not want unrequested information coming in. Actually, I spend relatively little time on Facebook and a lot more time here.
Most of my family communicate on Facebook, some of us for the first time in years. Most of them have a deep and abiding faith and belief in god, and all that implies. When they send me religious messages, which they used to do frequently, I just send them a piece about my finding no evidence of god or a reason to have faith or belief. If they don't get a gentle hint, I get more confrontational.
Their great fear for me is that I will burn in hell, and my great fear for them is that they will miss out on life. I have noticed those who have faith also have a lot of stress, anxiety, depression and "bad" days. I don't seem to have problems in those areas.
My great concern for everyone is that we are on a tipping point for so many things; climate change, loss of care for children, elderly, and being involved in constant wars since WWII. I hope to see our culture turn around by recognizing humans are not the top of a pyramid but a part of an interlinking net; that humans have the capacity to damage or destroy life as we know it on Earth.
We are a part of something so grand, so full of wonder, so magnificent, and we had no part in creating it, even as we have opportunity to enjoy this glorious sphere.
It's the same here Patricia: I hate facebook - but I' ve got a facebook account. I never use it, I just keep it to see things and for one contact. Any mail they send me I throw away within a second.
Joan you are fine. No problems with you posting anything. I just didn't join because I think it's too much of a privacy invasion.
Comment by Patricia on December 6, 2012 at 9:26pm No Joan, that's not an issue. The issue is.....anyplace I go online, I have fakebook in my face & I can't do/see a lot of things unless I join, or I get something about signing into my email with fakebook, or registering a vote for something with fakebook, earning grocery coupons through fakebook & on & on & on......
