Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on November 30, 2012 at 12:17pm Thanks Steph! She and I are both extremely liberal as well, so we never argue about religion or politics. We just bitch about them. LOL. Love your LOL Cat! :) Have a great Friday my friend!
Have a good time booklover.
It's good that your friend is an Atheist too.
You have a common understanding. It makes things easier.

Comment by booklover on November 30, 2012 at 8:15am Joan, this month's National Geographic has a looong poster of a redwood with men in it. On the back are pictures of all the creatures that live in it! Really cool. I also esp. love the lines in the tribute to Yip Harburg that you shared... "All the heroes of tomorrow are the heretics of today."
So happy it's Friday. My daughter is going back to school to have fun with friends for the weekend. She baked sugar-cookies to take, and my son helped decorate them, and they had fun making silly ones, etc. I'm going to visit a friend at one today. And she's an ATHEIST! lol :) Have a great Friday my friends!!!~ Melinda
Comment by Ian Mason on November 30, 2012 at 3:56am Joan, I've done that too, a few times. The version you've found is the one I was trying to link to.
Comment by Joan Denoo on November 29, 2012 at 11:30pm A Tribute to Blacklisted Lyricist Yip Harburg: The Man Who Put the ...
Yip Harburg, the Broadway lyricist who wrote "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" and "The Wizard of Oz" and many others with memorable tunes and lyrics.
He put a strong social and political component to his work, fighting racism and poverty. Harburg was blacklisted and hounded throughout much of his life unable to get a job for eleven years.
Lives of great men all remind us
Greatness takes no easy way,
All the heroes of tomorrow
Are the heretics of today.
Socrates and Galileo,
John Brown, Thoreau, Christ and Debs
Heard the night cry "Down with traitors!"
And the dawn shout "Up the rebs!"
Nothing ever seems to bust them —
Gallows, crosses, prison bars;
Tho’ we try to readjust them
There they are among the stars.
Lives of great men all remind us
We can write our names on high
and departing leave behind us
Thumbprints in the FBI.
~ Yip Harburg
Comment by Idaho Spud on November 29, 2012 at 5:54pm Thanks Tony. The dip-shit bit is hilarious, and so true. And, I also agree with you about it Joan.
Booklover, the Grinch-cat is also very funny. Saved it, as I do with most of the things you guys show us.

Great photo of those minuscule men hanging from that amazing tree Joan.
