Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Melinda, thanks for your kind words and assurances that I hadn't intruded. There are so many tools one can use that we should have learned in our families and education, but I didn't learn many of them until I responded the best way I could to pain and disappointment. I agree, this is a lovely group of people, wise and funny and bold.
Love you and each one.

Thanks for all of your wonderful sharing and support of one another. Yes, why do cats love boxes? Perhaps because there are so few things in their human environments that they can control. Boxes tend to be light and cat sized, as well as resembling a nest.

No fair, GrinningCat. Now I have that Grand Old Cat tune as an earworm.

I was missing yesterday because I'm working on another pullquote/slideshow. But this time I'm more ambitious and will buy Vegas Video to add sound and allow people to control it. It's a learning curve to figure out how to properly credit the pictures. I collected a bunch without getting all of the information I need, and now have to hunt for their sources or replace them.

From The Meaning of Life, an oldie, but I still enjoy it.

Chris, that film is a KEEPER! Just a great lively tune, and lyrics worthy of memorizing. Let's have a sing-along. You are brilliant!

Spud, that big cat looks really comfortable up there!

Good ideas Chris!

Wonderful pictures, esp. the kingfisher and the minnow - you can almost see what the minnow thought...

I have a way to cure myself of depressing ideas, perhaps some of you can use it: first think of the worst time in your life, then say to yourself: ´If I survived thát, today must be easy enough.´

And if that doesn't help, you can sing

Booklover, the cat in the tree is so very interesting and made me smile as well.  It took me a while to figure-out how it was positioned.  I guess he's got his front legs resting on the branches.

I'm constantly amazed and amused at the strange places and positions cats get into.

First of all Ian, Great cat-walking pic.  That's about how you can walk a cat! lol.  I'm sorry for what you have to go through Ian, and what you've gone through.  You're right, it's always worse when it's your child/children.  Why do they say 'atypical' in front of your diagnosis?

Grinning Cat, Love that song.  Of course I sang it too! :)

Tony, that is a very good song to have stuck in one's head.  I hate sad music, but that song is uplifting!

Steph, you are just so kind and good. You make everyone on here happy.

And Joan, I didn't think you implied anything! I LOVE your advice and wisdom!  Keep it coming!  I tell my family about all of you and the great things you all say, and the nice things you all say, etc.  I love what you said about being an old Mother Bear and hibernating!  That is what I am aiming for!

This IS a great forum, and I come here first thing in the a.m. too! Thanks SO MUCH Ruth for starting it!

Joan, thank you for the compliments, and I want to be like you.  You are such a neat woman!

I find my cat pictures on Facebook.  I just love them too.  Animals are so good for our outlook on life I feel.  They live so simply and don't worry.  Plus, they're adorable! lol.

Have a great rest-of-the-week my friends.  And we are all friends here.  That is for sure. ~ Melinda
