Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Looking to positive, healthy, enriching, flourishing concepts that we can move toward:

Celebrate the original "reason for the season", the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere with it's cycle of short days and long nights.

Trees provide joy in our homes with their fragrant reminder of life all around us: birthing, living, and dying as part of the process of living.

Festive lights and candles sparkle away gloom and darkness of mid-winter, revealing the contemplative consciousness of eternal needs and quiet desires.

Meals prepared by loving hands and community reminds us of the importance of family and being part of something incredibly huge and life sustaining.  Food on our tables also reminds us of the horrible reality of world hunger that can be solved with community effort and spirt. All hunger is political and can be cured.

Music enriches our lives, touching a place inside us that can be touched by nothing else. It is that personal, quiet, eternal longing for harmony with others.

The Wheel of the Year puts seasons into perspective of times for planting, tending, harvesting, resting, and perceiving beyond ourselves toward the Earth and the Universe in which it resides. All our good celebrations reflect those elements that come to us without our effort and even without our knowledge sometimes.

May justice and peace come to all because of our understanding that we all exist on this planet as participants in life.

I could not get my Thanksgiving message through either. So, a belated greeting to all my Atheist Nexus friends, with special thanks for all your ideas, comments, reflections, and looking to positive, healthy, enriching, flourishing concepts that we can move toward and hopefully inspire others to learn.

Ian, itchy caterpillar, lol.  My husband has a mustache all winter, and shaves it off for spring and summer.

Glad you are here today Ruth and Patricia. :)

I actually got a smartphone!  Our whole family switched from USCellular to Verizon, and the kids' phones are their 'xmas' presents, since they chose expensive phones, but hubby and I each got an iPhone4 for 'free' included in the package.  Now.  To learn to use it!!!~Melinda

I'm a little late.......but Happy Thanksgiving everybody!  Hope you had a great day.  I spent the day working, but was then able to enjoy the evening with my parents, sister and brother-in-law for one of Mom's exquisite traditional Thanksgiving meals with 'all the trimmings.'  I'm thankful for family, friends and for this online community.  You folks really are the best, and I appreciate everyone's unique contributions.  Today I will be feasting on some great leftovers.  It really doesn't get any better than that!
