Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on November 16, 2012 at 4:59pm Thanks Carl. Sounds like you had a great time!! Glad you got to have your whole family together. Maryland sounds lovely. I've never been there.
Then you get to come back to our lovely weather! lol. Yes, we've hit a bump in the road, but as long as everyone is safe, we'll get through it. I just hope my daughter feels better mentally soon. She and my son went out today, running errands and had lunch, so that was nice. :)
Ian, your book sounds good. I love books set in England for some reason.
Comment by The Flying Atheist on November 16, 2012 at 2:38pm Good afternoon Folks. Just checking in. Been quite absent from here lately, but I've been able to catch up on all the posts. I was out of town for one week. Spent a wonderful week on the road and back for a family wedding in Maryland. My parents, brother, two sisters, their wife/husbands and all of their kids (my seven nieces and nephews) all together again for the first time in eleven years. We really had a lot of fun together. Maryland was beautiful. Warm: in the 60's and gorgeous fall colors still around on the trees, unlike cold, grey Illinois. Spent an afternoon touring Mount Vernon (hadn't been there since 1972 when I was 8 years old.)
Melinda, sounds like Life really took a turn for the worse for you and your family. I'm terribly sorry to hear about all the misfortune your kids are having to endure. Hugs to you all.
Comment by Ian Mason on November 16, 2012 at 1:50pm I've been wrapped up in a good book: "Fludd" by Hilary Mantel. Bleak moors, dark satanic mills and Catholicism in the north of England. Very funny.
That's a funny LOL booklover.
Where did everyone go?
Comment by booklover on November 15, 2012 at 6:55pm Tony I like Steve Martin too - thanks for the song.
That license plate is funny.
I liked the comic about cats Ian.
You have such a sweet mom booklover (Melinda). How nice of her.
I like the cat photo you posted Melinda. It's very funny.
I just love the face on that kitty.
