Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by Idaho Spud on November 15, 2012 at 12:12pm I first saw Steve Martin perform Atheists Ain't Got No Songs on Austin City Limits a couple of years ago.
I like a lot of it, but some parts just strike me as too critical of atheists. My guess is that he made it that way so a lot of religious people could laugh at it too and not hate him for it. Whether that's true or not, It just makes me laugh at some parts and get annoyed at other parts. And, yes, I know I let too many things bother me.
Comment by booklover on November 15, 2012 at 11:12am Tony. You just made my day. I LOVE Steve Martin, and that was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shared it on Facebook! LOL

Tony, that dog cartoon is hysterical! lol
Thanks Chris, I hope today is better too! My daughter is needing to leave college for the semester due to her anxiety/panic attack meds not working. It is a semester lost, but she is trying to get is 'erased' from her records since it is a medical reason. So sad about it though. My son's 1st car, had it two weeks, a 2002 Mustang with under 45,000 miles on it. A semi-truck in the parking lot (it was dark) got it caught UNDER the semi and dragged it 40 feet then fled the scene! Total loss. My son was inside working when an older man came in an told the front-desk what he saw. Couldn't get an i.d. on the truck. I feel so bad for my son! His dream car. 2 weeks. Aaarrrgghhh. Life can really SUCK sometimes. I can't stand when my kids are hurting. Thanks for listening friends!~ Melinda

Love those cats, booklover! Hope today is better for you!
Just sent a couple of religiously handicapped away - told them they should keep imaginary friends to themselves, but they insisted on calling at all the forty-two apartments here, even though I told them that many people here work night shifts. They probably think that waking people up will earn them a place in heaven. How stupid can you get?

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
