Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Haven't been in here in months.  Glad I am finally back.  I have no idea how everyone has been, but I hope you all are well

Stay safe during the hurricane.

Stay away from the tons of crap around the election. I am so sick of the same lies being told over and over again by people who will get nothing done, in the end.  I think a yearn and a half is too long to waste on elections, doing absolutely nothing.

Anyway, glad to be back.

You have storm worries Ruth, & we had a large earthquake off our coast last night. Luckily it was remotely centered so no damage, but tsunami was a concern.

We will be thinking of you Ruth.  I agree that Sandy may be not just a fluke, but the new normal in changes we are seeing with the Earths weather, etc.  I hope you don't lose power or have your basement flood!  Hang tight! We are land-locked here in Northern IL, but there are tornadoes aplenty!

Joan, I love the pic of the chimp hugging the dog.

Such wonderful posts and insights shared today. Love the posts sk8eycat. And the video of stairball.

"I admire people who barely have anything, but share it nevertheless."

Such a wonderful quote!

Thanks for the video of Harvey playing stairball. I see him as efficient, not lazy. Dancing cat and nomming cat were also welcome. "Keep going strong" is a good way to put it, Steph.

I'm anxious about Sandy, living in Phila. Our basement is prone to flooding and all of the battery stores are sold out. *sigh* The shelves were empty of bottled water too yesterday, excepting the expensive individual size.

The media keep calling it "rare", as if this is just an extraordinary fluke, rather than an indication of how storms are changing. Perhaps the high tide is a fluke, but blocking patterns are the new normal. Yet, I haven't adequately prepared. So who am I to talk. Once the power is out, you won't hear from me for a while. Don't worry.
