Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

So, I guess most of you here know that my dad died back in January of complications of Parkinson's disease. There have been times that have been rough since then, but I'd think it's all part of the process, so to speak.Today was Remembrance Sunday…Continue

Comment by booklover on October 13, 2012 at 8:01pm Paula, what a great job! I have been home for 20 years! Stay-at-home Mom, and then I homeschooled our son for 9 years. Now that I've worked myself out of my homeschooling job, time for me to decide the next chapter in my life. Go back to school? Get a part-time job? Don't know yet. I DO know I have WAY less patience with people. I don't want to work directly with the public, because I'd probably tell someone what I really thought and be fired the first day! LOL
Comment by booklover on October 13, 2012 at 7:57pm Hi Steph! We are a lot alike! Probably why we're friends! :) It is rainy here, but it didn't pour today. A little rain, and drizzle. Our son is out with friends, and daughter is visiting her best friend at another University. We are each on our computers. I'm gonna go read in a minute. I am reading "The Pillars of the Earth" by, Ken Follett. Very good! My husband is reading the 2nd book in Ken Follett's new trilogy "Winter of the World", also very good! I made dark chocolate chip cookies for a treat later. Good day to stay inside and bake. Have a great night!!~ Melinda
Comment by Paula T. on October 13, 2012 at 7:55pm I know that feeling, booklover! I love my work as a librarian, but some patrons can really test my patience. I sometimes mutter under my breath "I hate people" lol
We had quite a bit of rain here today, Steph. Cold and windy. At least we can assume it is warmer in Texas than in Detroit right now!
