Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by sk8eycat on October 10, 2012 at 1:56am Ruth, when I first went online (2001), I found an Atheist/Agnostic forum that was kinda fun, but they never asked anybody who wanted to come in if they were non-believers or not. You just registered, and that was it. For about a year or two it was really neat; I "met" a couple of people who have become solid friends...we're still in touch, e-mail almost daily, talk on the phone sometimes, etc.
But then xian trolls started registering using fake names, and all they usually did was keep pastiing buybull verses into all the threads...over and over and over. Or they'd sermonize, and do the same thing....paste the same sermon all over the place. When we yelled at them, got hostile, told them to eff-off, the moderator told US to "play nicely" with our guests.
We went elsewhere.
A good description of the tea party, Sk8eycat!
And I like your sort of trolling Ruth!
Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on October 10, 2012 at 12:36am Nobody suggested it here. I was just reading the rules at Reddit and thought blog-spam sounded a lot like 95% of what I do. I haven't posted anything but comments at Reddit.
Thanks for the reassurance, all.
Comment by sk8eycat on October 10, 2012 at 12:03am Ruth, I think of "Hang With Friends" as just that - a place to relax and share thoughts, jokes, things we think others would be interested to see.
That's what you and all the rest of us do in here, isn't it? Who brought up the subject of trolling? And why?
Fugeddabahdit! Dis here is r clubhouse...everbuddy welcame. Have fun, stretch the mind, meet new friends.
Ya dun gud. Don't change anything! Okay? {{{{Ruth}}}}
Love, Felaine
Comment by Joan Denoo on October 9, 2012 at 10:01pm Ruth, I like the way you post, whether it is a link to an article, a copy, or a summary. Your posts always contain information in which I am interested. I also like your clarity on what you like and don't like, or suggestions to improve the comment. So, it may be "spam" or "trolling" and I benefit by what ever it is called. Thanks.

Comment by Tony Carroll on October 9, 2012 at 7:59pm Ruth, I agree with Steph. I LIKE what you put up, here and other places on the Nexus. Were friends, with (mostly) similar tastes. So why shouldn't we share with one another? Just keep it up. It makes you, and us, happy.
Tony I love that pumpkin carving and the lion picture with the Lion King song on it- how very cool!
And booklover those are great lolcats - I am collecting all sorts of great pics here today.
sk8eycat I like the teaparty pic.

Well It's dinner time - going eat and be back here.
Your contributions are not spam Ruth. I always enjoy your postings and discussions.
