Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on October 9, 2012 at 9:00am Good Morning Everyone :) I overslept. My 18-year old said he was tired and was thinking of going back to bed instead of going to class, citing my bad example. ha ha, what a smart-aleck!
I love the cartoon cat on the phone Tony, and your lion pic put that dang song in my head!!!
Joan, I love the way you describe things.
Everyone have a great day~ Melinda Here is a LOL cat for later...
Comment by Tony Carroll on October 9, 2012 at 8:23am I like the text about the unhappy muslims, Sk8eycat! The happy ones are the muslim girls, as far as I can see - they use their freedom to the utmost while still adapting to muslim rule.
When anything went wrong in the USA we used to say "Oh well, that's where we sent the religious nutters and the criminals." but the difference is unimportant now.
I'm off to work on a beautiful autumn day. Sleep well!

Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on October 8, 2012 at 10:13pm Thanks, Tony Caroll! Perfect Columbus Day image. I never liked history for the same reasons, sk8eycat. Only as an adult did I discover how much of what I'd been taught in school was spin, hiding real history.

Comment by Ian Mason on October 8, 2012 at 9:28pm Sounds lovely, Joan. Batten down the hatches ready for winter and a good round of cosy. Nature can put on a beautiful show at this time of year.
Very nice kitchen, Patricia. Hope the work you're doing now goes well.
Comment by sk8eycat on October 8, 2012 at 9:11pm Joan, I read, and read, and read. I wasn't interested in American history in school because it was taught so badly. By rote. Memorizing names and dates...blah!
As for Tony's poster, I'm sure some of my mother's ancestors weren't too happy with the pale-faced invaders. (Including Dad's ancestors from England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.)
"There goes the neighborhood!"
Comment by Joan Denoo on October 8, 2012 at 8:52pm This day sparkled with bright autumn colors, cool breezes, and falling leaves. All tender plants turn black quickly after a frost and black makes a good contrast to reds, oranges, and burgundies. Mt. Spokane had a snifter of sow, more like a veil than at cap.
Had my roof repaired to withstand winter winds,
outdoor water pipes blown out, almost all the Concord grapes picked, and fireplace smoke fills the air. Really nice.
