Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by booklover on October 7, 2012 at 4:27pm Good story Joan. Isn't that true that different people act differently when they drink. I can't stand being around my Mom when she's had a few glasses of wine. My husband could be drunk and you'd never know. I don't drink very often, and then it's just beer, but I'm told I'm fun when I've had a couple, lol.
Hi Patricia, aren't those things in life just as irritating as all get-out? I know there are more important things in life, but when you want something done and it doesn't get done, it's frustrating! I hope your guy returns your phone call. That is just rude!
Steph, my husband always carved pumpkins with the kids all their growing-up years. Now my daughter will carve them with her friends for their apartment at her University. I don't think our son, at 18, has much interest at this point. Maybe a few years down the road I will try one like you showed! My heart's just not in it right now! I do love to see the trick-or-treaters come to our door!!
Comment by Patricia on October 7, 2012 at 4:19pm Just checking in guys.
Reno's are sort of at a standstill with it being Canada's Thanksgiving weekend. Patching, crown mouldings, & painting are completed, but we've been unable to get in touch with the bricklayer to find out when he's supposed to do the fireplace. Carpets are supposed to be installed on the 19th, but the fireplace has to be finished first, & he hasn't returned our calls. I'm beginning to lose trust, but he's the only game in town which explains being busy, but what's so difficult about returning a simple phone call? I'm going to be some bent out of shape if we have to postpone the carpets, & our weather is turning chilly so want it done before it gets any worse. Oh well.........
Comment by Joan Denoo on October 7, 2012 at 2:41pm Steph, truth be told, I can no longer enjoy a nice glass of red wine with dinner. My old body just does not tolerate alcohol and I guess that is caused by diabetes. In any even, I thought it was a funny story.
Joan your tomatoes sound really wonderful.
As for alcohol I abstain from it. None for me thanks.
Hope you all are doing good today.
You can buy pumpkin carving patterns for the pumpkins.
And a special set of knives to cut the pumpkin with.
It's so much fun - then you can bake the pumpkin seeds after to eat.
Comment by Joan Denoo on October 7, 2012 at 1:05pm Here in Spokane, WA. we had our first killing frost this year on Oct. 4 and every night since then. I took in my tomatoes yesterday and this morning I tasted a few of the ripe ones and they tasted like tomato alcohol. So, I can eat tomatoes, get really happy and everyone will believe it is because I am such a jolly person.
Funny about alcohol, my Dad didn't drink anything alcoholic and I served a Chinese dinner one night with Longevity Wine, a delicious, sweet, aromatic wine from China and he fell in love with it. He drank many glasses and the old curmudgeon became a really funny man.
My son drinks even one glass of beer and becomes a raging bull.
So much for the power of alcohol.
Comment by booklover on October 7, 2012 at 11:46am I wish I could carve a pumpkin like that! Some people are so talented!
