Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Comment by sk8eycat on July 8, 2012 at 3:25pm Nor does weather.
That's one thing that p*sses me off about The Weather Channel, and many newspaper weather maps; they show the US as an island. And the Weather Channel ignores everything west of the Mississippi River about 75% of the time. (Their headquarters are in Atlanta, I think.)
Comment by sk8eycat on July 8, 2012 at 3:00pm Ew, Patricia. That's appalling; it means the fires are even worse than I understood.
As for The Beautiful Downtown Burbank Pool Picnic...I checked the weather forecast, and it looks like things are going to heat up here in the next week. I think I'm going to have to seal up the house and turn on the A/C pretty soon.
Comment by Patricia on July 8, 2012 at 2:40pm Would you believe we have the Colorado fire smoke here in the middle of our province of BC, Canada???!!!!!
Comment by Idaho Spud on July 8, 2012 at 12:31pm Wish I could come. It would be my first time trying tea since the escape from the Morg. I tried coffee several times and don't care for it unless it's got lots of sugar, cream, and fruit flavor.
Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on July 8, 2012 at 10:12am Sounds great, Patricia! I'll have my iced tea without sugar, thanks.
Comment by sk8eycat on July 8, 2012 at 12:34am I wish I could invite everyone to my place...SoCal has also been having unusual weather for this time of year...we haven't needed to turn the A/C on since we had an odd heat wave in February. Overnight temps in the 60s. And we have an old see-ment pond in the back yard. (no diving board, though.) Automatic ice-maker in the fridge, and plenty of tea...in every flavor imaginable.
I'd like to be able to fill the place up with friends, and par-TAY! I need to do something happy-making.
If someone could bring a portable gas grill, a tent, and sleeping bags, y'all are welcome. The Schwan's man will be here Tuesday (I hope!).
Oh. Coffee fans need to bring their own; I never developed a taste for it, so there's not a bean in the house. So sorry. (There IS a StarBox around the corner, but they are hideously expensive. IMO.)
Comment by Patricia on July 8, 2012 at 12:01am Awwwwright you guys suffering in the heat......my place!!!!! Iced coffee, iced tea, cold wine, & an air conditioner!!!!!!
Comment by Idaho Spud on July 6, 2012 at 7:53am "Cheese" from the blob made me laugh (and it's almost cute). Thanks Ian.
Comment by Idaho Spud on July 6, 2012 at 7:51am I've not seen the "Knowing how to think" quote from Tyson before, but it's now one of my favorites. Thanks Tony.
