Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Rain would be very welcome here.  Another day in the mid 90s.  At least the humidity is low, but I'd much rather have my house open, instead of closed up and shuttered!

This made me LOL

Hey everyone! It's looks like we might get some rain here today.

That's very cool of you sk8eycat! I watched an HBO documentary last night that I taped Monday night called "One Nation Under Dog" - which I think everyone should see. Watching and listening to those poor babies being gassed as they cry out to the other dogs for help, was hard to take, it was an awful,  hard to watch scene in a fantastic documentary about our fascination with dogs as pets in the U.S.

I think you'd probably really appreciate three of the rescue workers they follow in the documentary, definitely heroes each of them.  Thank you for what you're doing!

@ booklover & Lillie:   It really isn't much.  Honest.  I feel guilty that I'm not out there helping with the actual rescue work, or fostering some cats, or something.  But all I can seem to do is condense 2-page press releases (PR people are so wordy! I think all that overdone info tends to turn readers off) into bare-bones single paragraphs so that Lori can squeeze them onto two pages of print.

I just woke up, so I think it's time to nuke some breakfast and get to work.

See y'all on Friday.

Or maybe Caturday.  In the meantiime:

We will miss you, sk8eycat but appreciate the contribution you are making to homeless pets.

Note to all my friends: If I seem to be more absent than usual lately it's because I'm doing my bit for The Pet Press this week.  I'm not a touch typist, so I have to work slowly to make sure I get addresses and phone numbers absolutely correct for all these rescue orgs that want their fundraisers and adoption events publicized.  I think it's the least I can do for all the hardworking people who find forever homes for all the dogs, cats, and other pets that have been dumped in shelters ... that don't have room for them.

Got it?  Good!
