Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Happily, I am now a five year breast cancer survivor, and I am thankful to my friends, family, my health care team, and to science and medical discoveries. Dealing with cancer and treatment is never easy and it's damned scary, but it is easier when…Continue

k.h., that is funny! And I'm confident that your father's a human, not an android! (Looks like an autocowreck snuck into your comment.)

That's funny Kathy.

Spud, my fathers occupation, on my birth certificate, is listed as 'hooker'. I kid you not! He worked for the railroad at the time android his job was hooking the railcars together.

Yes, of course you're right. It's that I don't know what system you use. Here you get a birth certificate with names of parents - if the names are known - perhaps you can see from the names if they were married at the time or not, but what you think of it is your own business. A government calling a child illegitimate meddles in people's lives in an intolerable manner - yes, like a xtian would. To me illegitimate doesn't exist.

smacks of religion

Comment by Idaho Spud 7 hours ago

Chris, maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like a religious question to me because I can't see why a secular government would care, or why it's any of their business.

I've read that the government does it to preserve stable family groupings.  That sounds like a good reason, but I still think religion is the reason the government is concerned with it.

I think calling the child illegitimate is a stigma that shouldn't. be put on a child, and back in my day that child was denied inheritance and property rights.  I think there are still some restrictions on those children.

The word and the unfair restrictions on an innocent child just smacks or religion to me.

legitimate a religious question? I think I don't understand, Spud. I thought legitimate on a birth certificate meant in or out of wedlock.

LOL, Joan!  That movie was "When Harry Met Sally."  It starred Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.  The woman who said "I'll have what she's having," was Rob Reiner's (sp?) mom in real life.  I just saw a story about the restaurant where that was filmed.  Women still do the scene there in the restaurant, and the diners applaud.

Mindy, remember the movie that I didn't see, but the clips were priceless. It was a scene in a cafe with a man and woman. The woman demonstrates to the man that she can fake an orgasm. An observer tells the waitress she will have what the orgasmic woman had.

Sounds like a good scenario for your fundy neighbor.

That Jam session was kind of fun Patricia.
