In the US we have heat warnings (15 degrees above normal) in 13 states on the first day of Summer. I live in one; my thermometer says 97 degrees F. How are you doing? Happy Summer to folks in the northern hemisphere!

Permalink Reply by Tammy S on June 20, 2012 at 2:07pm Happy Solstice to you also Ruth! 94 degrees here today with a heat index that I'm sure makes 94 seem cool and breezy! I'm inside waiting for winter! LOL
Permalink Reply by sk8eycat on June 20, 2012 at 2:26pm Hmmmm...it's not terribly hot here (San Fernando Valley...yeah, I'm a "Val"), but we haven't been having the usual "June Glooom" overcast, either. At least we haven't had to close up the house and turn on the A/C yet. I hate it when that happens!
In the meantime:
Permalink Reply by The Flying Atheist on June 20, 2012 at 2:55pm Hot here in Chicago as well. Temperatures in the 90's all this week. I do have to say it's been pretty tolerable outside because we haven't had the usual accompanying oppressive humidity. That makes a BIG difference. I'm not a big fan of hot/humid weather. Must be the Scandinavian in me. I love a sunny 50-degree day! Happy Solstice and Summer everybody!
Permalink Reply by Paula T. on June 20, 2012 at 9:19pm I'm with you, Flying Atheist. I'm not crazy about temps in the 90s, but they are MUCH more tolerable when the humidity is low. It's been that way these last few days. Honestly, is it ever comfortable when the humidity level is high? Temperatures this warm are unusual for this time of year, obviously, and we had a few days in the upper 80s back in March! I just ignore my boyfriend when he makes comments about Global Warming lol
It's supposed to be more comfortable this weekend, with temps in the upper 70s...but that forecast will probably change half a dozen times by then!

Permalink Reply by booklover on June 22, 2012 at 8:17am My poor husband is a delivery driver. Most of his route is in an industrial park. The job was much easier when he was 25, as compared to 45. I feel so bad for him in this heat. When he comes home he is just wiped-out! He just stands in a cool shower with a cold beer!~Melinda

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…

What do you think of this,
Nathan Young,
No Jason Torpy it is you that should be banned for promoting atheism, a belief that has no foundation in reality and zero proof behind it. The letter was a mockery of your atheist beliefs. I request to the board here that they remove Jason for his unverifiable beliefs in atheism for which he has no proof other than his arrogance. The letter was a mockery of atheism. Atheism is stupid and it should be mocked and it…
