I posted a shorter note about this on the meetup. The director of religious education for UUCG asked me this morning if we could get Richard to do his talk from last GUST meeting and for me to do a Secular Humanist talk for the high school class.

I understand that people might fear that a "Church" sponsoring atheists will try to convert them, but that's not the UUs. I think we have a much stronger potential to promote our beliefs within UUCG rather than the reverse.

It's a pretty good sign of respect, when an institution says to you, "please come talk to our children." Thanks for your support on the UU affiliation idea last week.

I haven't set foot in a church in probably 15 years and at some point I developed a real aversion to them but I felt pretty o.k. on Wed. Just a little twinge when I first came in I don't have any initial apprehensions about the UU church. I know a couple of members from our homeschooling playgroup and we've talked about the church before. I've heard nothing but good things. So you have my support!
