There are many misconceptions about us. I have run into a lot myself. This is really good to help explain who we are.

Goths are tolerant, peaceable and accepting of others and open-minded.

Also we don't get wasted and do drugs and have promiscuous sex. (I'd had some people actually think this of us).

I thought I was going to hate it, because our (and by "our" I mean the gothic community at large) oppinons often differ on what is goth AND what isn't goth. Turned out it was pretty awesome and I agreed with most of it.

I've never really felt like a Goth, but I love The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, and Fields of the Nephilim, etc..  Dosn't that make me a goth, by default.  I also like to get wasted, do drugs and have promiscuous sex. semi :-)
