Nice article from UK Telegraph.com. Fall is a great time to plant a lot of the bare root perennials, shrubs, trees. It may be too cold or wet in some areas but in others it's still an option.
I'm still in the process of moving some "movable" - relatively speaking - trees and shrubs. They should do better than bare root and nursery pot plants for the same size. At my age and energy level, I can move a shrub to a size about 6 ft tall, or a fruit tree to about 8 ft tall, with careful digging, to preserve as much root as possible, and a lot of swearing.
Also more bulbs to plant. Tulips, daffodils, alliums. Every year I over-extend how many I think I can plant.
