I thought I'd make the first thread a welcoming one. Just introduce yourself, and who your favorite teams are!I'm Mike and I'm a die-hard NHL fan, but I'm partial to the Columbus Blue Jackets.Continue

There better not be a strike. SMH Freakin hell! I really dis-like Gary Bettman for it.

St. Louis Blues - now the No. 1 team in the NHL after beating Anaheim 3-1 and the Rangers dropping a 4-1 decision to Ottawa. I think it's safe to say NO ONE saw this coming. And I think this is a team that can do a LOT of damage come Stanley Cup time.

Am I the only Canucks fan in here? It isn't much fun gloating when there isn't anyone to needle.

Rachel, the best way to learn how to play hockey is probably to get into a pick-up game, and keep playing. Usually there are people in pick-up games who will try to help you or teach you new things (from my experience). The forward C-cuts, if I recall, are to teach you to skate side-to-side rather than forward to back. A good video to watch if you're trying to get an idea of what to do would be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2dRaR0f8Hs. What position are you looking to play?

As for the trade deadline, my Blue Jackets got Scottie Upshall! I'm excited for playoff hockey in Columbus (well in West Lafayette, IN but cheering for Columbus)!

So the NHL trade deadline has come and gone. My St. Louis Blues were pretty active - putting Ty Conklin on waivers, dealing Eric Brewer to Tampa Bay, Erik Johnson and Jay McClement to Colorado, Brad Boyes to Buffalo and now Brad Winchester to Anaheim, mostly for draft picks (they did pick up Chris Stewart and Kevin Shattenkirk from the Avs). Anyone have any thoughts on all the deals and which one was the biggest of the bunch?

AWESOME GROUP! How did I not see this earlier?

I am a Leaf's fan. So I am used to pain and suffering.

I am trying to learn hockey skills now.  I am learning C cuts but I am very very awful. I can do them backward better than forward.

Any tips?

Blues fan, but I follow the whole league. I've always wondered if religion gets talked about in the locker rooms. You know some of the Scandinavian and Russian fellows are bound to be atheists...

Anyone see that goalie fight between Brent Johnson and (I think) Rick DiPietro last night? Always fun to see a goalie fight. *LOL*
