I love George so much! I had the opportunity to see one of his shows when he came to the Tampa Bay area about 6 years ago. It was the most wonderful experience to actually see my hero there in person!

Yes, the source is his 2004 book: "When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops". Page 48. (His other 2 books are "Brain Droppings" and "Napalm and Silly Putty")

If you check out the book, make sure to check out Carlin's rant about "Have a Nice Day" ( p85)...another of my favorites.

Here's a few more Carlin quotes to make you want to read/check out this book:

"I have no regrets in life. Although I am kind of sorry I never got to strangle a man to death while wearing a tuxedo." (p156)

Carlin had great social commentary....so many of his opinions about the world matched mine....and still do. I especially appreciate his love of the euphemism in our daily lives: Is that a minor skin blemish or a pimple? Is that a beauty mark or a big ugly mole? Is that a complementary breakfast or a stale doughnut?

The whole recent argument about using the word "retard" has me remembering the things Carlin would say about political correctness.

Here's one of my favorite rants entitled "Too many People":

There are too many people. Period. There have always been too many people. If these diaper sniffing Christian babymongers would stop having so many of these cross-eyed little kids, maybe the rest of us would have a chance to spread out and have a little fun. Excess children waste our natural resources. If this society wants me to conserve energy, it had better get some of these child-worshiping religious fanatics to stop having 5,6, or 7 babies. When they do that, I'll start turning off the lights. And yes, I know the fertility rate is down. Good. It should go down even further. Every family should be allowed half a child. If that." (p48/When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?)

We were just about to take my mom to see him, we planned on buying tickets for a show that was two months after he died. So sad to have lost such a brilliant, talented man that wasn't afraid to say anything he wanted.
