Yes, sad stories tell. Everyone seems to have one as they profess how this has been their "dream their whole life." Producers love to play the TV audience with those stories. But I think the fakers are found out soon enough. They just don't pull it off very well, imo. I trust Jonathan is telling the truth. It is, at the very least, a probably and likely story.
You know, there seem to be so many of these videos from talent shows that have the same general theme: the unlikely, unassuming, homely, sad-story individual gets on stage and wows the crowd with their amazing talent. These videos are wonderful to watch and quite moving. However I have to admit that after seeing so many similar videos in the same vein as the infamous Susan Boyle performance a few years ago, the skeptic in me is now wondering at this point if some of these stories are manufactured or embellished just for dramatic effect. We all know, and it's no secret, how unreal and staged reality television has become. I personally don't watch any of these talent shows, but I hope the stories are as genuine as the talent.
George, nice to see you here!
Russia is becoming the next place not-to-be-gay. It sucks. The examples and tone set by the so-called leadership, are reflected in the behavior of the followers.
Russian Neo-Nazis Allegedly Lure, Torture Gay Teens With Online Dat...
A neo-Nazi group in Russia has apparently enacted a disturbing campaign against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth by allegedly using a popular social network to lure in victims and torture them.
Russia arrested 3 Dutch tourists for violating the antigay "propaganda" law. " If convicted of the law, the three people could be heavily fined, held for up to 14 days in Russian prison and then deported back to the Netherlands"
A courageous gay couple in Tupelo Mississippi applied for marriage. They expected to be turned down. Doubtless, it's a first step toward building a court case. I say courageous because being openly gay in Mississippi can still get you brutally murdered.
Geraldo, Great commentary. The murder of Trayvon Marton should matter to everyone, including LGBT people. And the rights of LGBT people should matter to everyone, including anyone whose rights are trampled and who have unequal opportunity.
Bigotry Knows No Boundaries:
Why the murder of Trayvon Martin matters to Gay people. Rev. Irene Monroe: A young man has become the symbol of the horrific result of such stereotyping, and is fast becoming the symbol for a movement. Just as Matthew Shepard's death galvanized a nation, Trayvon Martin's death is doing the same.http://www.laprogressive.com/matthew-shepard-and-trayvon-martin/
LA Radio host comes out as intersex. Interesting interview.
Quote...Maybe there are people that hate it, but I actually kind of love it. So I hope other people that are like me, even if they’re not telling anybody, love it as much as I do. Because it’s kind of a neat thing to be free of gender in a way...
You certainly live your life knowing you’re different. But it’s really kind of a beautiful thing. I could’ve lived without having to get all the surgeries, but in the long run I think it’s kind of awesome."
Self acceptance is beautiful.
