You're welcome. Mistaking the stereotypical lisp for a hiss sounds possible.

Sorry about that, I meant to say "not including myself".

Well, that's three people (including myself) who have never heard of the "gay hiss" thing.

Thank you Daniel the Apostate, Grundgetta, and Charles H Downs. I'm convinced my friend was confusing the hiss and the lisp. He couldn't elaborate further. He simply thought there was some stereotype involving hissing. Thank you all, once again. I just needed a couple more people backing me on this.

I certainly never have.

I have never heard of hissing as something that gays do. It's a strange thing to say. You should ask your friend to elaborate.

So, a really kind, attractive, wonderful, pleasant, cute, and atheist man told me that hissing is a homosexual stereotype. I've performed google searches trying to find information on this. But, I've received no information thus far.

Have any of you ever heard of this stereotype?

Not too old. LOL
I'm proud of my history. I took a lot of chances and I'm happy that some religious nut didn't take me out during some protest or after a media appearance. I would do it all over again.
The worst thing, which still exists today, is not being understood by the gay community. It breaks my heart when I see how many of us still cling to those institutions that have caused so much missery, pain, and death to our people.
I understand people feqaring their mortality and thinking that "something" is there, but to hold on to the childish notions from an oppressor, is very sad.
The up side is seeing so many out and proud atheists who will continue to change the world.

Dominic,
I hope this doesn't make you feel old: You are a true pioneer for equality!
I'm also pleased that the movement has flourished. It gives me hope for the next generation.

Back in the early 80's I co-founded American Gay Atheists. We worked very closely with American Atheists and Madalyn Murray O'Hair. I'm so pleased that the movement has grown to this point, especially with the availability of the internet. We truly are everywhere and it is great to see.

Nothing new here. Because of Apple, Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden and the Trojan War was fought. And they almost killed Newton.
