Oh, my.  I'm using Fierfocks, too...  And I'm worried about the Windoze XP loss of support, too.  I don't know that much about computers and I don't want to start froom the beginning with Unix. or Linux, or whatever..., and I certainly can't afford a new one...or even a more recent used one.  If "support" just means "no more upgrades," I think I can live with that.

Hell...I drove the same car for 30 years, and all I had to do was put gas and oil in it, and have it tuned every year or so...why can't computers be like that?

Mozilla's new CEO gave $1000 to oppose marriage equality.

This story has been going around multiple LGBT web sites.

I don't know what to make of it.   $1000 is small potatoes in the political donation category.  It doesn't make him a major player in the antigay world.  The main Mozilla product that I use is the Firefox browser.  I don't pay for firefox.  I use an ad blocker so I don't see how ads could pay firefox for my use.  I don't even know how they get money.  There is boycott fatigue.  It's not a big deal to change over to a different browser, but I wonder if it's worth it because the new CEO gave $1000 4 years ago for some reason.  He has not spoken in defense of, or regretting, his action.

Scalia needs to get permanent lockjaw...or have a left hemisphere stroke that leaves him unable to communicate ... forever.  I have some evil wishes for Clarence Thomas, too.

Sorry, folks, but I am not a "nice" person; my nickname since 1959 has been "La Bruja del Hielo."  And I work at it when someone pisses me off, or hurts people I care about.

When Slate writer William Saletan gave credence to Regneris' so-called study, my opinion of Slate went down the toilet. I unfollowed Slate, and never have returned. Judge Friedman called it right. It is truly funny to see the Regneris hoax fully debunked and ridiculed so thoroughly.

I keep thinking one of these lawsuits has to fail. They cant keep doing the right thing, over and over.

Even Maggie Gallagher, one the spokes-troll for for the catholic front- group National Organization (against) for Marriage, seems to have thrown in the blanket.

I just hope if one of our okder Supreme Court Justices gets sick or worse, its not Ginsberg. Cant Scalia or Thomas just get a bad case of shingles or domething and have to step down!

Grinning, thanks for pointing out the use of quotations by the judge.  That's not only satisfyingly funny to me, but it also shows that some judges really do "get it" in regards to some of the tactics used by the anti-gay groups.  It's his subtle way of saying that they have absolutely no credibility in their arguments.

My goodness, a lot is going on with gender issues. All the friction creates heat, which empowers change. So, being in the midst of a lot of legislation disputes is a good thing, even if uncomfortable. I am confident, marriage equality will be the law coming out of it for all USA.

Today a federal judge overturned Michigan's marriage banAnd he demonstrated how to properly use scare quotes:

‘The Court finds Regnerus’s testimony entirely unbelievable and not worthy of serious consideration.... his 2012 study was hastily concocted at the behest of a third-party funder, which... “was confident that the traditional understanding of marriage will be vindicated by this study.” ... The funder clearly wanted a certain result, and Regnerus obliged. Whatever Regnerus may have found in this study, he certainly cannot purport to have undertaken a scholarly research effort to compare the outcomes of children raised by same-sex couples with those of children raised by heterosexual couples.’

(from Bernard Friedman's decision, pp. 13-14)

I don't know why there seems to be an abundance of wacko nut jobs running around Kansas, perhaps they need to test the water or something.  I watched that film "God Loves Uganda" and that pack of loony's that call themselves IHOP "International House Of Prayer" who send their packs of junior idiots to Africa and preach hatred for gay people, throw the gays in jail or kill them because they are such awful sinners. They even had to steal the letters of the pancake joint.

It seems that they were loosing ground here in the States so they decided that they could be much more successful by preaching all their hatred to the Churches in Uganda and other African countries.

If you can get the chance to watch the film, I guarantee you will come away pissed off by the stupidity of such offensive people.

What is happening to Hateboro Crutch is pretty much what happened to Scientology, and before that to Howard Hughes.... unrelated money and power-mad weasels slowly take over and push out the founders.

Or maybe I'm thinking of the species of bird that lays its eggs in some other birds' nests, and forces them to let their own offspring starve to death while working to keep the voracious strange nestlings fed..

I dunno.

Susan, sk8eycat, LOL! Excellent analogies to people protesting equal marriage. (And I like the skating cat!)

Joan, thanks for introducing us to Al Vernacchio's TED talk explaining the problems in the baseball metaphors for sexuality, and proposing an inclusive, cooperative, delicious one: pizza!

I'll share it in Secular Sexuality as well.

A good complement to his talk is Carly Dreyfus's article "To Slide or to Slice? Finding a positive sexual metaphor".

(As Dreyfus points out, nobody gets consigned to hell for liking pineapple, spam, and M&M's on their pizza!)
