I want to ask a True Believer to define "sin" without mentioning any "gods."  They can't do it.

I agree with your "best of times/worst of times" comment, Sentient Biped.

( I like the expression of the guy on the left)

Some powerful words, speaking out against the Sultan of Brunei, his imposition of murderous laws, and his ownership of 2 California hotels.

In al three Abrahamic religions, women are either property of some man (walking wombs) , or they are temptresses who lead men astray.  In other words, apparently Middle Eastern and African men have no control over themselves, nor are they ever taught that they can control themselves.

You'd think that after 3,000 years or more of evidence to the contrary that they would have learned something.   For one thing that "eliminating" LGBT people does not stop them from being born; every LGBT person on earth was/is born to and raised by str8 parents.  Just the same as one blond parent + one dark-haired parent can produce a redhead....

Do these fanatics also kill pets caught mounting other pets of the same sex?  It happens all the time.

Continuing the comment about Brunei, "A number of UN studies have revealed that women are more likely to be sentenced to death by stoning, due to deeply entrenched discrimination and stereotyping against them"

As in A Tale of Two Cities, these are the best of times, these are the worst of times, for LGBT people.  As  for the best of times, progress in many states and countries is astounding.  As for the worst of times, there's the Middle East, Africa, and now the darkness takes its hold on Brunei, where sharia law includes stoning of "sex criminals" including LGBT people.  " As per its provisions, sexual offenses such as rape, adultery and sodomy will be considered punishable acts for Muslims. Consensual sex between homosexuals will also be criminalized, with death by stoning the prescribed punishment."

Good point, sk8eycat.

On another note.

I have read that people who were raised to believe that sex is "sinful" and/or "dirty" have a tendency to obsess about it...their own sex lives and everyone else's.  Jimmy Swaggart was a prime example.

Also, when they read or hear a word like "homosexuality," all they focus on are the three letters in the middle:s-e-x.  They think it's only about sex, not attraction, affection, love, building a life with someone.

That's the way they look at heterosexuality, too...that it only has to do with the physical act, because that's the way THEY compartmentalize it in their own minds.  If they have minds.

I saw something about this on a tv program. I think people who are so concerned with a stranger's sex life are the ones with the problem. I also think they have homosexual tendencies. Why else would they care.

Extreme homophobe Uganda minister accused of promoting homosexuality by showing gay porn in churches.  Huff Post article.

Martin Ssempa is part of  the cadre of killer sharks circling the helpless gay people in Uganda with persecution, arrest, demonization.  He was famous for showing gay porn at his churches, supposedly to promote disgust, and for "educational purposes".

"He explains to the Church what the homosexuals do step by step baring all and hiding nothing. Pastor Ssempa has homosexual porn on his laptop and all his gadgets. He almost seems obsessed with it."  I doubt that he shows loving scenes of gay couples.  Whatever he shows, I imagine there are hetero equivalents to each scenario.  Regardless, if I was a gay teen going to his church, it might be the only access I have to show there really are other gay people in the world, and I might feel a little inspired, in a perverse way.

If you swim with the sharks, you better not have any bleeding wounds.
