On Jonathan Allen - really moving.  I'm as much of a skeptic as anyone.  I think in a way it doesn't matter.  This young man's parents just got a nation wide, solid, "you folks are assholes!".  Sooner or later I expect they will see that.

In addition, this is yet another validation from pop culture that not only is it OK to be gay, it's definitely not OK to be antigay.

Lately I keep saying, over and over, I cant believe I lived to see things turn around like they have.  I know it's not universal, and there are many hellholes in the US and around the world.  Also, then pendulum swings, and we don't know what tomorrow will bring.  But in many places, this is a fine moment.

On the Pope's relative moderation on LGBT people....  We'll see.  We'll see.  The church politicians must realize how much they've lost due to their 10th century policies.  I truly doubt it's because of someone's change of heart.

Hi Krizina.  Welcome!  It's nice to have you join us.

What's the situation like regarding both LBGTQI and atheist people in Nepal?

The pope, speaking about The Gays:  "We shouldn't marginalize people for this. They must be integrated into society," Francis said.

I hate to break it to him, but we're already a part of society.   What a pathetic, freakin' moron.  Perhaps he should leave the Middle Ages and join our society here in the 21st Century.

Yes, sad stories tell. Everyone seems to have one as they profess how this has been their "dream their whole life." Producers love to play the TV audience with those stories. But I think the fakers are found out soon enough. They just don't pull it off very well, imo. I trust Jonathan is telling the truth. It is, at the very least, a probably and likely story.

You know, there seem to be so many of these videos from talent shows that have the same general theme:  the unlikely, unassuming, homely, sad-story individual gets on stage and wows the crowd with their amazing talent.   These videos are wonderful to watch and quite moving.  However I have to admit that after seeing so many similar videos in the same vein as the infamous Susan Boyle performance a few years ago, the skeptic in me is now wondering at this point if some of these stories are manufactured or embellished just for dramatic effect.  We all know, and it's no secret, how unreal and staged reality television has become.  I personally don't watch any of these talent shows, but I hope the stories are as genuine as the talent.
