There is no mother fucking god and all churches should die.

Pro wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has come out in favor of equal marriage.

(NSFW: this two-minute interview clip with Ted Fowler is f---in' replete with swearwords.)

Notably, on nonaccepting churches: "Which one of these motherfuckers talked to God, and God said same-sex marriage was a no-can-do?"

That reminds me of religioustolerance.org's study where people tried to assess "the will of God" about same-sex marriage through prayer. 2/3 of the participants felt they received an answer. Some of these people approved of SSM at the beginning of the study, some disapproved; but every single answer confirmed the person's initial opinion!

Not one felt that God disagreed with them.

Carl, thanks for linking to the article.

I think people always have an excuse for their xenophobia.  The "threat" to "sovereignty" imposed by "foreign" ideas or people.....  My first thought - commented in the article - was that is the same excuse used in Africa.

I call it scapegoat.  There might always be a reason, insofar as one thing leads to another, but in the end it's still scapegoating.

As for whether foreigners can influence the behavior - I don't know.  It seems to me like it's a humanistic duty to try, whether it's that, or ethnic cleansing somewhere, or other human rights abuses.  But there is so much, and it's so difficult to influence, where does one start?  Do we stop buying oil from Muslim countries where abuses against LGBT people and women are rampant?

Sorry about blathering.  I don't know where it leads.

The Box Turtle Bulletin (Link) has a very interesting article/editorial on why the LGBT issue in Russia is so radically different and more complex than in Westernized countries.

Essentially, the Russians hold a skewed view that homosexuality is an import from 'The West.'   They view outside calls for tolerance as meddling by foreigners and an actual threat to Russian nationalism.

Whereas LGBT discrimination in the West has largely been based on religious views, in Russia the issue strikes to the core of the Russian sovereignty.

It's a very complex problem.  I urge you to read the article.

Dallas, thanks for telling us.

Jamaca ranks as one of the worst places in the world to be LGBT.   Old article here but Im not aware of much change.  It's infuriating and tragic.

Whenever people tell me the've gone to Jamaica, or planning to, I ask would they vacation in a place that has slavery?  That sells women into brothels?  Then why play and pay money in a place that murders, denigrates, abuses gay people?  Just so they can smoke some ganja and listen to reggae?  Assholes.

That bra ad is amazing! Thanks, Ruth!

(Trying to embed it here... clicking "HTML" twice gives me the more complete set of buttons.)

And I completely agree with NemoRosa700's comment which is also a spoiler -- watch the video first! "She's hot. He's hot. End of story." (Drag over it, or Select All, to reveal.)

Fantastic bra ad. Very cute. I can just imagine the right-wing backlash if that were shown here in the US. Now that would be a memorable Superbowl ad.
