Abe Lincoln was a Kinsey 5? Republicans coming to terms with Lincoln's homosexuality? "Joshua Speed was, as he put it, “Lincoln’s soulmate and the love of his life.”

In the 1926 tome titled “The Prairie Years,” Sandburg wrote that both Lincoln and Speed had “a streak of lavender, and spots soft as May violets.”

Speed himself acknowledged, “No two men were ever so intimate.” And Tripp credibly describes Lincoln’s near nervous breakdown following Speed’s decision to end their four-year affair by returning to his native Kentucky.

Castro regrets persecuting gays. "In an interview on Radio Cadena Agramonte, Castro took responsibility for persecution of gays and lesbians after the 1959 revolution.

“Five decades ago, because of homophobia, homosexuals were marginalized in Cuba and many were sent to agricultural or military labor camps, accused of being “counterrevolutionaries,” he said. “We had so many terrible problems, problems of life or death, you know, you do not pay enough attention.”

He said personally he had no prejudice and that many of his oldest friends were gay and lesbian."

Joseph,
Not wanting to be an on-topic nazi, and not saying I don't support good causes, but what does this have to do with GLBTQ issues or atheist or GLBTQ atheists?

My best friend who is an atheist and who has been instrumental in my transition lives in Colorado. So, you can still be very helpful as he was(and is) with me.

Thanks Phillip. He lives about several states away. I only talk to him on the computer. I hope he joins this group. I haven't heard back from him.

Glen Beck isn't agains't same-sex marriage? here. What? "Gay Marriage is not a threat" (in video, he promotes going to church as more important).

This after Ann Coulter decides to play with gays.

I feel like I'm in a drug induced dream. Of course, that's only 2 conservatives on the topic, but a few others have been nondoctrinairre about the issue as well.

But Glen Beck? Damn!

Linda-
I am also coming out with the atheism. I have felt unable to tell my parents. It's almost as difficult as coming out of the gay closet 21 years ago.
Luckily, I have good friends to guide me. Your friend is lucky to have you as a friend.

Thanks Daniel, I think I have found a way to invite him.

Linda, if you go to the home page, in the middle is an envelope that states "invite friends". I've never used it, so not sure how it works, but you might try that. Sorry your friend is having those problems. It sucks.
