pre Chick-Fil-A history

Virginia Trail Judge
Quoted in Loving v. Virginia

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And But for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix."

The Chic-Fil-A thing (whatever it is) is yet another way that people line up on one side or the other, often forgetting what it's about. I have to keep reminding myself it is not about the personal beliefs of the founder. It's about the fact that some (a lot) of dollars, that go into the cash registers at the chain's stores, go to spread hate and discrimination against human beings who happen to be LGBT. There are few clearer cases of "voting with dollars" to dehumanize people.  Those dollars actually hurt people, when they go to the hate groups.

As for the long lines at the stores, they are simple small minded shallow bigots. It's easy to discount the people standing around with their bags of Chic-Fil-A, looking like they ain't had so much fun since the hogs ate Junior.  Except, when I look at them, I think of the same rednecks who tormented me decades ago, and how they and their young'ns have learned nothing, grown not at all, and are still as useless as hen shit on a pump handle. I also think of the willfully ignorant Palinistas of the last election.

*

Meanwhile, I'll continue to eat healthy and recommend to my friends not to eat the hormone-laden, grease-soaked poultry sandwiches that support bigotry.

"Chick-fil-A Lays an Egg" blog post by Annie Laurie Gaylor, FFRF co-prez:

The comments following the post are interesting, too.

If Mr. Cathy runs his business on "biblical principles" as he claims, I wonder if he beats his "employees/servants/slaves" when they make mistakes. "Jesus" said he's supposed to.

These TrueChristians(tm) don't even know what's in their own buybull.

PS: The last I heard, the mayors of San Francisco and Washington DC have joined Thomas Menino in writing to the Chicken Man to tell him his stores are not welcome in their towns.

Boston. Always wanted to visit, now more than ever. Way to go Mayor Menino!

SB, I really don't know much more about them, but I will tell Cindy what you said about the preacher. Really trying to help her out with this with info. Thanks.

Steph, thanks, but this is no big thing. Just want to help her with resources for this incident, and future ones that I know will arise.

Comment by Steph S. on July 19, 2012 at 8:41pm

Tony I hope you are able to help them out. It's really nice what you are doing for them.

Tony, for that situation you were right to look into PFLAG.  It's by far the best.  After that, if they are religious, it depends on their denomination.  If it is supportive, they can talk to their pastor - such as Unitarians.  If it is not supportive, I would not advise that.

Hey SB, have to be somewhat circumspect, but a client of hers (teenager) had an incident where he came out to his parents due to a bullying incident, and his parents were very upset, confused, and bewildered. They were asking her about sites for them to visit, groups to check out, other parents to contact. Even in their confusion, she told me they wanted to support their son. Now, this is a smaller town we live in, and as far as I know, no groups here or anywhere except Dallas. She is trying to find resources for these people and others when it comes up again, and it will. She talks to me about things like this and others things, also. She knows my feelings on matters like this. She gets no support or help from other social workers here with stuff like this. What I'm trying to help her with is just general info, how to make contact on the internet to sites, groups, etc. Anything will help, and she can build a data base, hopefully, for the future. That is all really. Hope I'm making sense, my friend. Not looking for news sites per se, but sites for support of the family and individuals, if you know what I mean. Appreciate it. I've been trying to find stuff myself, and finding it hard slogging. But, will keep at it. Thanks again. Any help will be appreciated.

Tony, I don't know what kind of resources are available.  It would depend on what someone's need are, and even then I probably don't know.  Legal issues or discrimination issues might best be dealt with via ACLU.  It really depends on what kind of problem there is.
