You're gay?
Comment by Sentient Biped on April 21, 2012 at 8:53pm Dallas, I'm not sure. It might be this one. OK, I'm sure it was this one. I remember. His name was Tom. I was 17. He introduced me to beer. And pot. And coffee. And cigarettes. And hand holding. And kissing. I still drink the coffee. And sometimes hold hands. And sometimes kiss. Tom became a special ed teacher, married, had 37 kids. OK, not that many, but a several. Catholic. No idea what happened to him over the past 25 years. I joined the army and a lot happened and I became me. I didn't keep up, on purpose, because I didn't want to tell him I loved him then and I turned out gay.
SB, your March 18th vid was removed. Yeah, I'm just now getting caught up on emails. What was it?

Comment by Sentient Biped on April 19, 2012 at 9:32am Here's a trailer I ran across, from 2010. I'm involved in the care of many elderly folks - many in their 80s and 90s, one is 100 and several are close to 100. I don't know a single one who identifies as LGBT. I know a few LGBT folks in their 60s and 70s. The trailer points out that LGBT people often don't have families who care for them, but some do. The truth is, many straight people don't either. Churches and church-based nursing homes are sources of comfort and community. I walked a fine line in my mother's nursing home, which was religious based. I could not transport her the 2000 miles to my house, and she refused when younger and more able. So I tolerated the Jesus portraits and chapel and chaplains' parasitism. My nightmare: being prayed over, being forced to eat meat, having religion forced on me. I've been an understanding, secure, and supportive partner to my partner - I hope he doesn't dump me when I'm old. Sometimes I think about when I'm old, I'll my house into an LGBT foster home for the elderly. It's a long way away, and no one likes to think about aging - neither straight or LGBT people - but it's pat of life. For those who are already there, they deserve better.
