@DarrenYeah, her "law of the land" strategy is pretty stupid too. So I guess the law of the land is supreme and she doesn't plan to change anything. Oh, wait...
Darren, if we in the US elect her.... Oh jesus, I can't imagine. But then I thought that about GW Bush. And then most of my worst imaginings were exceeded by reality. You got a spare room?
@DallasLol the comments have really blown up on your video, huh? And as for the other video, Bachman worded her answer to the gay marriage question SO well. She has received guidance from intelligent people. Gays DO have the right to marry. Gay marriage is not a gay right; it's a right for straights too. It puts things in a little different perspective for me.Her rant about religion in schools was also very well-worded. I can see how a like-minded crowd would rally around her. She also puts this issue in a different perspective for me. I realize how important the Department of Education is after seeing this. Sorry, but public schools are not churches. That's what private schools are for. Finally, WHY is everyone posting in the comments section? I feel like most of what gets said down here deserves a discussion.
she got into, and stays in, office because people vote for her. I have not heard if there is a competing candidate for the upcoming election. If not, it's partly the fault of the democrats in her district as well. People can only vote her out if there is a viable opponent.
She's so effin' stupid! How do people like that get into office.
I don't know which is more annoying - Bachmann or the people who applauded her. And what schools allow muslims but not christians to pray? Ms. Bachmann will eliminate the dept of education.... jesus...."When I was growing up in Iowa, there was no fed dept of education" - yeah, and look what resulted, dimwit.
Student questions Michele Bachmann on gay rights
On Wednesday, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann held a town hall meeting at the Pizza Ranch in Waverly, Iowa. The highlight of the eveningcame when a high school student in attendance raised her hand and asked Bachmann what she would do to support and protect the gay community.
Bachmann responded that all Americans should and do have the same rights, which drew a smattering of applause. The student responded: "Well, why can't same-sex couples get married?" Bachmann responded that gay men and lesbians do in fact have the same rights as everyone else because they can marry members of the opposite sex. So, a gay man could marry a woman. And a lesbian woman could marry a man. Even though they are gay. Got that?
You can watch a video of the full exchange, which also touches on prayer in school, after the jump below.
I don't think Bachman understands what it means to be gay.
