SB, that video is frightening. Here is another one. Shameful propaganda.

Comment by Tenken on November 24, 2011 at 9:13am Thanks for the video, Sentient! It's interesting and encouraging to draw parallels with modern issues for me. Also, who was that man at 6:30? What he said is applicable even today. It's amazing he could say something so progressive that it still needs to be said 40+ years later. I tried searching for his quote, but I only got 1 hit on reddit with no name.
Comment by Marx on November 24, 2011 at 6:41am That was an amazing video. I tend to forget how things were back then. I was a junior in high school when this was broadcast and I was madly in love with my best friend, Bill. Even though I was in love with another boy and engaged in homosexuality, it took me years after this to admit to being a homosexual. I rationalized it all by telling myself that I had some homosexual feelings, but that I was not a homosexual. I was a good person and homosexuals were terrible people, so I could not possibly be a homosexual. It took three years of therapy to recover from the effects of this type of propaganda and prejudice. It amazes me how much has changed since then. Thanks for sharing that video.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Comment by Sentient Biped on November 22, 2011 at 9:47pm same sex marriage vs. cousin marriage infographic. Not the coolest infographic I've ever seen, but interesting. There are a few states where you could marry your same sex cousin, if you were so inclined.
Yeah, that jumped out at me, too. I also didn't like this sentence: "Defense attorneys acknowledged McInerney was the shooter but explained he had reached an emotional breaking point after King made repeated, unwanted sexual advances."
That's a crock. A 15 y.o. boy is not going to make repeated uwanted sexual advances to a bully. This is just a gay panic defense. The word "alleged" should have been included in that sentence.
Comment by Sentient Biped on November 21, 2011 at 9:23pm Did the writer need to say "Ellen DeGeneres, a Lesbian"? He didn't identify the other people that way... "Englebert Humperdink, a heterosexual...." Well, that's me nitpicking. I'm glad the kid is in jail for the long term. At least he has a life, and ultimately maybe a chance for personal 'redemption', unlike his murder victim.
