Comment by david hartley on June 30, 2010 at 2:33pm: Doo wop is a bit of mystery to me as been a little early to me. the Del Vikings Come Go With Me does spring to mind. Lee Andrews and the Hearts were another group that continued into the sixties that we picked up on. Somebody that knows more than me would be able to better comment but the influence of do-wop is obvious in what we listened to the Dells I mentioned in my post being a case in point a group that can be seen as having 5 decades in the music industry, that takes some doing. I'll post a particular Dell's favourite of mine with this as perhaps a good example of doo-wop metamorphising into 5 and in other cases 3 part harmony. There you would be into the Primettes or the Temptations as we all know them now and that was'ny their only manifestation as they developed, crikey there's a lot of examples.
As to the beginnings of the doo-wop expression that's a little further back than i've looked at but would be interested in any others views.
