I bet the whole thing gets white washed and somehow the vicitims will be the people responsible for the whole mess...that is the army way of exercising military justice and tolerance... Just look at the egregious dysfunction of command in the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division with Colonel Cloutier blaming an entire battalion for the misbehavior of LTC Matthews and CSM Clift.

U.S. Soldiers Punished for Not Attending Christian Concert.

This is baffling, why does one need to wage a campaign of Spiritual Fitness? The people who are religious will continue to practice their brand of faith and those that don't, won't. But what does forcing Soldiers to attend this concert accomplish? Unless their Commanders are trying to mold the faith of their troops there is no reason to make them attend such a thing. I just can't figure out why the troop who did not attend would get punished.

Oh... I see. You've allowed homosexuals, so now you're only allowed to worship Satan. It all makes sense now. (kidding)

I'm surprised and not so surprised to see that pagans/wiccans and other variants have a "fellowship" time reserved at one of the chapels on VBC.

Foreign militarize often don't enjoy the secular government we do (at least secular on paper). We have a different legal situation in the US but you're definitely welcome here and at the official site - Maaf.info

I came across this and thought I would share it with everyone.
I have had family and friends who have had personal problems.
It is hard for them, their family and their friends.
Thought this might help those who don't want a "religious" answer.

Subject: Chaplain reserved parking space.

I work as a civilian on a military installation. Of course, parking is at a premium. One of the spaces in the small lot in which I park is reserved for the Chaplain. This peeves me more than I could possibly express in words.

As a staunch Atheist I find this unacceptable. When I read Chaplain on the curb of the spot reserved I interpret it to mean 'this spot is reserved for a theist, and because you chose reason over superstition as your philosophy of life you are hereby reminded that this is just another one of those theistic privileges of which you must be reminded.'

Considering the audience that I am addressing, I need not go into the deeper issues of state funded theistic privilege that are the cause of this issue. I plan to pen this concern to the post commander in the near future. Before doing so, I thought I would solicit your muse concerning this matter.

What say you?

Best Regards,
Madison

A U.S. Marine Colonel was about to start the morning briefing to his staff. While waiting for the coffee machine to finish its brewing, the colonel decided to pose a question to all assembled. He explained that his wife had been a bit frisky the night before and he failed to get his usual amount of sound sleep.

He posed the question of just how much of sex was "work" and how much of it was "pleasure?" A Major chimed in with 75-25% in favor of work.

A Captain said it was 50-50%. A Lieutenant responded with 25-75% in favor of pleasure, depending upon his state of inebriation at the time.

There being no consensus, the colonel turned to the PFC who was in charge of making the coffee. What was HIS opinion?

Without any hesitation, the young PFC responded, "Sir, it has to be 100%pleasure."

The colonel was surprised and, as you might guess, asked why?
"Well, sir, if there was any work involved, the officers would have me doing it for them."
The room fell silent. God Bless the enlisted man.

Bill, refer the chaplain to us and we can help educate. Nobody should feel obligated to defend humanism on the spot or even at all. He's an expert and shouldn't peddle his apologetics on troops.

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p

Anybody else read it? I love the basic premise, and being an atheist means I can appreciate the mythology and not get bent out of shape about the multiple deities.

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…
