Foundation Beyond Belief is a charitable foundation created by and for atheists and humanists. The Foundation highlights ten charitable organizations per quarter in such categories as health, poverty, environment, education, human rights, and more.
Members join by signing up for a monthly automatic donation in the amount of their choice, then set up personal profiles to indicate how they would like their contribution distributed among the categories. Maybe you'd like to give 25 percent each to human rights, poverty, education, and the environment. We'll distribute it accordingly. By year's end, you will have helped support a dozen organizations in the areas you care most about.
Only secular organizations are considered for support, with the exception of our Challenge the Gap category, which features progressive, non-secular, non-proselytizing organizations. At the end of each quarter, 100 percent of the donations will be forwarded and a new slate of beneficiaries selected.
Active members can join online discussions centered on the ten categories of giving, advocate for causes, and help us choose the new beneficiaries each quarter. We also host a multi-author blog focused on the cause areas, as well as humanism, philanthropy, and the intersection of the two.
On January 1, 2010, we launched the full site, including the ten featured causes and the means for members to select and change their preferred distributions. As of August 2011, we've raised over $175,000 for 60 charities and have launched Volunteers Beyond Belief, a US-national network of humanist volunteer teams working for the improvement of their communities.
We've begun creating a powerful presence for compassionate humanism in the world of philanthropy. Join us!

Crisis Response: Colorado Wildfires
The State of Colorado has been devastated by wildfires, with many people being evacuated and homes burning down. The fire still rages, and the first responders - the men and women out there fighting the fires - continue their work tirelessly. But many of them are underfunded, and their units are understaffed. That's why the donations to our Crisis Response program will be continuously given straight to the firefighting units in need. So if you can help out, even with just a few dollars, please visit our Crisis Response page and give.

Just a little bit of your time could go a long way for the Foundation Beyond Belief. Two things you can do:
We're on Great Nonprofits, and in order to get our name out and spread the word, we need members and supporters to review our organization. So go to the site and let people know what you think about us!
We want to learn more about our members, and let other supporters know what kind of awesome folks they're keeping company with. Are you a member? Would you be willing to do an interview and have it featured in our e-newsletter? Contact Bridget for an interview or to learn more about it!
